From the nephandus clarified card text, should one deduce that an inferior Weather control or Carrion crow played by a minion opposing nephandus in combat has no effect on him ? what about Dagon's Call "side damage then ? the "damaging effect" bit is somewhat confusing. Nephandus (Mage) [Sabbat] Cardtype: Ally Clan: Tremere antitribu Cost: 2 pool [Mage] with 2 life. <0 strength>, 1 bleed. <Nephandus may strike for 1R damage.> Nephandus gets an optional press each combat. [Each strike or damaging effect made against Nephandus by the opposing minion during combat is at -1 damage]. As a (D) action, Nephandus may burn a vampire in torpor to gain 1 life.

If it does damage it's reduced by one, it doesn't matter when or how it does damage. If the opposing plays Weather Control, Carrion Crows and Strikes w/ Dagon's Call all at inferior Nephandus takes 0 damage. Each has it's damage reduced by 1 making them all do 0 damage. Dagon's Call's side effect is a separate damaging effect to it's strike so both parts of Dagon's do 0.

Mininons inflict -1 damage on him... carrion crow isn't minion inflicting damage. It looks like the clarification made the Nephandus even more powerful. But anyway, why not ? =D reyda

From R/C/E Damage is only considered to have come from a minion if the damage is from a strike or if an effect specifically states that the damage is dealt by the minion. Damage from other effects is considered "environmental," and has no particular source. This means that damage from WC, CC or Dagon's Call won't be reduced, it's considered environmental because it's not from a strike.

[ quoted text not captured ] If, somehow, and for some unknown reason, an minion opposing Nephandus plays Twisting the Knife, it's damage would be reduced by one? Since it is a separate damaging effect and is influcted by the minion?
