Interesting use for Tomb of Ramses ?

I just thought of a horrible use for Tomb of Ramses which may very well be legal. It should probably be used after you already have a few Vamps out to perform actions. 1. Put tomb of Ramses on a vampire of at least 5 capacity (bigger is better). 2. That same turn, during influence, put 4 pool on other Uncontrolled Vamps: The tomb will put 4 from the bank on the entombed Vamp, which doesn't bring him into the active region. 3. Next turn during influence, use your 4 transfers to take two blood OFF of the entombed Vamp, back to your Pool. 4. Next turn, repeat step 3. 5. Repeat steps 2. through 4. ad infinitum. You have now turned the Tomb of Ramses into an inexhaustible source of pool with which to bring out additional vamps, 4 pool each 3 turns. Please point out the flaws in my plan. Chick...@aol.com

One flaw in your plan is that the vampire needs to be of large capacity or you will eventually bring it out, i.e., in order to keep it from coming out, you will have to use less than 4 transfers on certain turns AND/OR spend two consecutive turns taking the four blood off. Also, you will eventually bring out your vampires, and unless you are willing to continue bringing out vampires, you will have to rely solely on transferring blood to the vamp with Rameses on it. Also it is a location, and the longer you keep it out, the more likely it will get stolen... I would prefer dropping it and using it to best advantage all in one turn. Consider that if you have Information Highway out, you can bring in an Inner Circle member in ONE TURN! Tomb of Rameses III in conjunction with Carlotta Giovanni... <shudder>... ---- Dave

(at 2/turn).. it may be better if you have an info highway out, and just put one blood on it a turn, and suck both two off the same turn... WyldStar [ quoted text not captured ]

Wyldstar, my reading of the tomb is that you put blood from you pool on ANOTHER vampire, not the one in the tomb, and then put an equal amount of blood from the bank on the entombed one. chick [ quoted text not captured ]

If the card means blood transferred to OTHER vampires during your influence phase, I don't think it's that bad. If the card allows you to do a two for one on the vampire with card (allowing one to bring out an IC in one turn if one has the info. superhighway) I think that it is a bit more powerful, but still not _too_ bad. -spongy

Weeeell, I don't see any flaws in your use of the card, and it doesn't seem overbalanced, either. You trade off bringing out a new vampire very quickly at a cost of 3 pool plus however many turns it takes to bring out another vampire of equal or greater value, to bringing out other vampires at low to no cost VERY slowly. And, as a location, it is susceptible to Arson, etc. I just don't think it's all that bad. What does everyone else think? -spongy

They would have said 'For each blood counter you transfer to ANOTHER uncontrolled vampire...' Sounds like a rules question for Tom...

Tomb of Rameses puts blood on the vampire whether you transfer pool to that vampire, or to some other vampire. Tom Wylie rec.games.trading-cards.* Network Representative for aa...@cats.ucsc.edu Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

Look at Art Museum, Eco Terrorists and Arcane Library. They cost 1 less pool and will give you one pool each influence phase in a similar fashion. Rory The Ref at refplace.best.com

Don't know the ruling on whether you can play it on the same vampire but you would net less pool that way in return for bringing up a vampire real fast. I think both are valid options and should be available. [ quoted text not captured ]

Both are reasonable strategies under different circumstances. I for example would usually go for 2 vampires at a better net price. [ quoted text not captured ]

It is a good use. Eco Terrorists, Arcane Library, and Art Museum are similar, but are clan limited, give 1 blood/turn (slightly less pool rate, but costs less, too) and are more versitile (they aren't burned if you decide to bring the vampire out). The Tomb seems most useful if you start out getting some pool from it, at least to pay the cost and get the rest of your inactive vampires out. The method slows down a bit if you have to stop and get new vampires to influence, but that's not a problem if you already have enough vampires to act and block. -Wallpaper Paste for all those useless cards

ANY uncontrolled vampire... including the one that the Tomb is on... I don't think the card is extremely powerful because of it's ability to bring a vampire out fast (info highway is almost as good as the Tomb), or it's ability to bring out multiple vampires quickly (Arika and Democritus on the third turn.. yeech... or second with Info. Highway.. :), or it's ability to give you a blood or two every turn if you want to suck it back.. it's the fact that it can do all of these, and do them well... it's an extremely versatile card and no matter when you draw it, it's likely to be useful... the only thing that I think holds it back from being super-powerful is it's cost in pool... I used the Tomb in a game last night and I made a profit of 7 pool. The tomb is roughly the same power as a hunting ground, KRGC, London Times, Info Highway, Art Museum, Heidelburg, Eco Terrorists, and Arcane Library. I have to disagree about the versatility. If you don't draw it early it isn't nearly as good as if you draw it later. If you only have one uncontrolled vampire or you don't have any large vampires then you are out of luck because breaking even will take a long time. I got it out mid-game and latched it onto a size 9 vampire. Only because I got an effective management was I able to make good use of it. When it was on my last vampire, I used it up. It was better to have the vampire out than to gain pool at a slow rate. Once you don't have any other vampires in your uncontrolled region you have to commit to using all your transfers to blood gain or let the tomb go to waste for a turn.

As for your other Idea if you have the ISH out then the blood feeding technique might be useful! Errol T.
