Will probably never happen again since Kahina should not be in a deck that has some anarch tech, but here's the deal: Rise of the Nephtali is in play, I control Khay'tall who is Liaison and an Anarch, Also control Kahina with one blood and self-Tempted with one counter, Minion Phase: Kahina, seeing an interesting opportunity, takes an action to become Liaison thereby forfeiting her old One Vote title and contesting with Khay'tall. She then burns the Temptation counter and untaps. For her next action she plays Go Anarch since she is now an untitled, non-anarch and untaps. She now plays Fee Stake: Boston and becomes a Baron and gives up her Liaison title to Khay'tall, who will be able to use that title again on my next untap phase. Khay'tall realizes that Kahina will probably not be able keep that title without his help and that untap phase is so far away, so he takes an action to become Liaison again and, as per this quote of LSJ's: "A single vampire cannot contest a title with himself - he'd lose the old title as soon as he gained the (second copy of the same) new title." He becomes the active Liaison and will be ready to help defend his beloved Kahina. So, is all this cool and legal? Robert Scythe

She then burns the Temptation counter and untaps. For her Both are controlled by you. You cannot contest with yourself AFAIK So IMHO Kahina never gets the title, as per the 'burn the incoming copy' ruling. Let's see what others think :) //Doc.

Otherwise, Rise card text would cause one or the other to immediately yield the title. In response to the Doctor's post: You're not allowed to contest cards with yourself. You may contest titles with yourself. --Colin McGuigan

To continue with this train of thought: Can an Anarch with a title that is not strictly an "Anarch Title", such as the Liaison title, use all of his votes to defend a Fee Stake Baron title? I would think not, because Liaison isn't an anarch title, as stated. --Colin McGuigan
