I didn't rule that you "must trade a card", I ruled that you must followed card
text. Trading the Elder Library normally means that the recipient will find
herself in violation of the card text unless a card is also traded. But other
options exist - you could trade an Elder Library for a Visit from the Capuchin
with one counter, for example, or you could trade it to a Methuselah who
already has fewer cards in hand than her handsize allows, as I've stated
earlier.

No. With that logic (ignoring the "results" part of SC), once Meth. C ran out
of cards and has fewer cards in hand than handsize allows, then no trades
could occur between, say, A and B (see card text on SC to verify).
As it is (with the word "results" observed in SC card text), you need only
make sure that the trade doesn't create the situation, as I've said.
