Hi, just would like to know how the special of Rev. Blackwood works. Does he do +1 damage with every strike or only when inflicts damage? What happens when he uses Theft of vitae or just a doge? In which order do the effects take place? First steal blood and then 1 damage or the other way? I'm just a litte confused.....8-) -Markus

A strike that does not cause damage would be unaffected. Also, the kind of damage done (agg or non-agg) is the same as on the thaumaturgical strike. Thus, here are some examples of what would happen if the good Reverend played the following cards: Blood Fury: 4 damage (3+1). Soul Burn: 3R damage (2+1). Walk of Flame: 3 aggravated damage (2+1). Theft of Vitae: steals 2 blood, as theft does not cause damage. Blood to Water: burn 5 blood, as this also does not cause damage. Lucky Blow: 2 damage (1 hand damage +1 for the lucky blow). This is not a thaumaturgy card, so is unaffected by the Reverend. A thaumaturgy card that says "Strike: Dodge": Dodge, as no damage is being done. Hope this helps. -Korric [ quoted text not captured ]

Only when he inflicts damage with a "strike card that requires Thaumaturgy." > What happens when he uses Theft of vitae or just a doge? Theft of Vitae: no, since it isn't inflicting damage (there's a ruling that adding damage to a non-damage-dealing strike has no effect). Dodge: no, since it doesn't require thaumaturgy (as required by Reverend's card text) and because it doesn't deal damage, as above. > In which order do the effects take place? First steal blood and then 1 > damage or the other way? Strikes resolve simultaneously (except First Strike, Dodge, and S:CE). Damage is applied (but no blood spent to heal just yet) simultaneously with other strike effects. After that, excess blood (if any) drains off immediately, as normal. Then any damage applied is handled (healed in the case of normal damage, etc.) See the revised rulebook, sections 6.4.3.2 (Resolve Strike), 6.4.5 (Strike Effects) and 6.4.6 (Damage Resolution) for complete details. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Theft of Vitae is a strike, albeit not a damage-dealing strike. [ quoted text not captured ]
