Hi everyone. I wonder about Undead Strenght in a special case here. Here's the situation: X is acting and enters combat with Y. X's vampire holds a Bang Bahk in his hand and the combat is set at close range. X plays Undead Strenght as a strike who might be combined with Bang Nahk (card says: +2 hand damage or to a melee weapon). But Y as a strike, plays Fast Hand superior. So he steals the melee weapon. Can X still make damage if he doesn't have the weapon in his hand for his strike, presuming that he has to commit the weapon during his strike? Undead Strenght stipulates "+2 hand damages or melee weapon" making him believe that even if he looses the weapon, he can still get the hand damage. So tell me Mister Jyhad, what should i do??? :P thx GP41

IMO, he chose to strike with the melee weapon. Since he lost the melee weapon first strike, the strike is rendered useless. The 'or' gives you a choice in the strike declaration step, not the strike resolution step - hence, for the purposes of *this* strike it says "+2 melee weapon damage". -- James Coupe

Undead Strenght stipulates [ quoted text not captured ] Correct. While Undead Strength can be used as a hand strike or as a melee weapon strike, that choice is made during the announce strike step. In the example above, it seems pretty clear that the strike selected was: "Undead Strength Bang Nahk for strength+4 damage". -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. I don't think they are consisdered melee weapons. So even if stolen he would still get hand damage boosted by Undead Streghth would he not? So They are: Bang Nakh-Tiger's Claws Cardtype: Equipment Cost: 2 pool Melee Weapon. <Strength+2 damage> each strike. > even if stolen he would still get hand damage > boosted by Undead Streghth would he not? Not unless his "selected" strike was "Undead Strength hand for strength+2". In the thread, his selected strike was Undead Strength with the Tiger Claws. [ quoted text not captured ]

The +2 hand damage (as with all hand damage bonuses) does not apply from a melee weapon unless you choose to strike with it. -- James Coupe
