Just for sure: May I play Ritual of the Bitter Rose after Nephandus (Mage)burns a vampire in torpor?

No. Vampire A can play Ritual of the Bitter Rose in 2 situations: 1) Vampire A successfully diablerizes a vampire in torpor. 2) Vampire A burns Vampire B in combat resulting from an action that Vampire A is taking. Nephandus is not a vampire, and therefore doesn't qualify for either of these criteria. -Matt

"This card can be played as an action modifier card or a combat card. Each ready vampire you control gains an amount of blood from the blood bank equal to the amount of blood on a vampire being burned either by diablerie or while in combat with this vampire." It is not require any vampire. [ quoted text not captured ]

For some reason I forgot that Ritual of the Bitter Rose is a combat card as well as an action modifier. Seemed dodgy, glad someone corrected me :)

Let's analyze more closely: > "This card can be played as an action modifier card or a combat card. Correct, the card does not "require" a vampire. However, the situations that cause the card to be able to be played require vampires: > Each ready vampire you control gains an amount of blood from the blood > bank equal to the amount of blood on a vampire being burned either by > diablerie Only vampires can diablerize. Nephandus can take an action to burn a vampire in torpor. This is not the same as diablerie. > or while in combat with this vampire." "this vampire", meaning your vampire who is burning an opposing vampire in combat. Nephandus is not a vampire, so if he did manage to burn a vampire in combat, this clause still does not apply to him. Make more sense now? -Matt

"Kahalet" <kah...@op.pl> wrote in message news:cvg68l$5p3$1...@news.onet.pl... [ quoted text not captured ] It requires "diablerie" or "in combat with this vampire". Nephandus is not diablerizing his victim, nor is he a vampire who is burning his opponent in combat. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. > Ritual of the Bitter Rose Type: Action Modifier/Combat This card can be played as an action modifier card or a combat card. Each ready vampire you control gains an amount of blood from the blood bank equal to the amount of blood on a vampire being burned either by diablerie or while in combat with this vampire. please read the cards carefully: 1. 'burned either by diablerie or while in combat with THIS vampire' - clearly requires a vampire to play this card... 2. it either needs a diablerie action or a burn while in combat. nephandus burn action is neither of those...

RotBR isnt a strike card, nor does it require basic potence...

No. While Burning Wrath would treat the ghoul as a vampire, Ritual of the Bitter Rose would not. --Colin McGuigan

If you're thinking of a mortal ally recruited with Ghouled, he can't play Torn Signpost. He can only play Potence strikes, and once per combat. Ghouled Type: Action Modifier Cost: 1 blood Only usable when the action to recruit a mortal ally is announced. If this action is successful, put this card on that ally and add 1 additional life to the ally from the blood bank. This ally is considered a ghoul and not a mortal. Once each combat, this ally can play a strike card that requires basic Potence [pot] as a vampire. Rarity: Anarchs:C I've packed some copies of the card befroe realizing this... But it is still useful in some decks. >cheers >luciano/curitiba/baali best, Fabio "Sooner" Macedo V:TES National Coordinator for Brazil Giovanni Newsletter Editor ----------------------------------------------------- V:tES Brasil Site (only in Portuguese for now) http://planeta.terra.com.br/lazer/vtesbrasil/
