Hello All I've 2 simple questions: Did the Movement of Slow Body take a vampire out of torpor? The Jihad card don't specify that, only that a vampire in torpor becomes untapped. Vampire A and B are in combat. Vampire A is the acting one and plays a Dodge in short range and Vampire B plays a SUP Scorpion Sting. What happens with Vampire A? Can change his strike or simple his dodge fails and receive the damage from Scorpion Sting? Thanks.

There are 2 cards in Fortitude that will get him out of torpor. (One comes from the Sabbat I think.) Can't remember their names because in my Gangrel combat deck, if my Gangrel is in torpor, it is because I did something wrong. This situation sould not happen with my Gangrel deck. >Vampire A and B are in combat. Vampire A is the acting one and plays a Dodge >in short range and Vampire B plays a SUP Scorpion Sting. It's good to deal aggravated damage this way, it makes my Gangrel puhrrrrrrr like a cat. :-) >Thanks. > > >

Putting vampires in torpor is easy. That's why Graverobbing is a great card. Noal -- "DISCUSSION, n. A method of confirming others in their errors." -Ambrose Bierce. [ quoted text not captured ]

In my deck, I play Elysium, the Arboretum to contest it to another player, but people here know that when I'm contesting a card I'll keep it so they don't insist and I can use it as I wish. I believe this card (combat ends -beginning of the battle) is a correct response to that kind of deck. Furthermore, I have a Gangrel deck, so I too play Skin of Night. But I admit that I would be sad if someone would "graverob" my vampire in torpor- if that happens (please not Wynn!). People here prefer to play combat/bleed decks or stealth/bleed decks. They play conventional decks and play mostly with cards that will easily leave the hand. We don't like to be slowed by cards that cannot cycle easily. :-)

I would expect a Gangrel deck to have a few Skin of Nights floating around. But the Elysium is no solution to this combination ... because the acting minion gets first opportunity to declare effects. Iliana rushes Wynn. Wynn blocks to deny her the maneuver. Iliana plays Dawn Operation to modify the action, making all damage aggravated. Now, combat begins. Before range is determined, Iliana plays Skin of Night and Weather Control. everyone takes an unpreventable point of SOMETHING. Now it's the reacting minion's "before range", and they can tap the Elysium to end combat, for what it's worth. (Elysium card text: "Tap to end a combat. Only usable before range is determined." - contrast this with Obedience: "Only usable when this reacting vampire is about to enter combat with an acting younger vampire.") I think this makes the Arboretum technically unusable before combat begins, also. >But I admit that I would be sad if someone would "graverob" my vampire in >torpor- if that happens (please not Wynn!). There ALWAYS seem to be vampires in torpor, or about to be on their way to torpor if I drew it in my first hand. ;) Getting the action OFF, now... that's a l'il trickier. But you get to cycle the card anyway. =) And they get to decide whether to block you again or not! fun, fun. Cheesy, too. But fun. -- Derek (replying by email? remove the nospam from my domain :)
