*Mask of 1000 faces: Beast attacks w/ his in-built rush (D), can I mask with someone else? *Damage prevention: In combat, I play carrion crows inf. and hit for two hand damage, can my opponent prevent all the damage by playing resilience inf or does he need two damage prevention cards since there are two sources of damage? *Fame: If i burn a famed vampire w/ agg damage, does the controller of the vampire burn 3 pool? What about if i use amaranth? *Hidden Lurker: When the card say that the blocking minion cannot use any strikes, does it mean not even hand strike or cannot play strike cards from hand? What about S:CE? thanks for yr time, P.

> *Mask of 1000 faces: > Beast attacks w/ his in-built rush (D), can I mask with someone else? No. Vampires are prevented from masking actions that they would be unable to take normally. This leads me to wonder, could Beast Mask Wynn's special. My guess would be 'Yes'. > *Damage prevention: > In combat, I play carrion crows inf. and hit for two hand damage, can my > opponent prevent all the damage by playing resilience inf or does he need > two damage prevention cards since there are two sources of damage? He can prevent it all with Resilience. Unless the card says 'Prevent damage from a strike' (like Skin of Steel), you can prevent damage from several sources. > *Fame: > If i burn a famed vampire w/ agg damage, does the controller of the vampire > burn 3 pool? What about if i use amaranth? No. In order for Fame to trigger, the vampire must enter Torpor. If you burn a vamp in Combat via agg damage or diablerie, that vamp bypasses torpor and is simply burned. > *Hidden Lurker: > When the card say that the blocking minion cannot use any strikes, does it > mean not even hand strike or cannot play strike cards from hand? What about > S:CE? For the first round, no strike whatsoever (card text). This does mean they cannot even use their innate hand strike. However, they can still maneuver I believe. In doing so, it would have to be by using a card that grants only the maneuver. They couldn't use a strike card that grants a maneuver (Thrown Gate, etc) since that is using a strike, which they are prohibited from doing. a0 -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own

My guess : would be 'Yes'. Just to be contrary, I will say that Beast can't Mask Wynn's ability. My reasoning is that all card-provided actions are different for purposes of No Repeat Actions (ie attacking with a Haven is different from attacking with a Bum's Rush is different from attacking with Wynn's built-in attack). (And in this case, Wynn's rush is +1 stealth against predator or prey, while Beast's is no stealth, against any minion.) (Now I'm trying to think of two vamps who have exactly identical special actions they're allowed to take... I can't think of any.) Snipped all the rest - I think all your other answers are correct. I wrote the above pondering before I looked up their respective card text. > (And in this case, Wynn's rush is +1 stealth against predator or prey, > while Beast's is no stealth, against any minion.) Right. And this is why I was wrong. [ quoted text not captured ]

If I used Salinger to go beat up a Lasombra, I should be able to Mask with Beast since Beast would have been able to attack the Lasombra anyway....and neither action is at stealth. If Wynn attacked a 2 cap vampire controlled by my prey, Roxanne should be able to Mask since she's able to attack the kid anyway and both actions are at +1 stealth. That's my take on it. Unfortunately, no. The NRA rules only allow a vampire to Mask an action it could have started and Wynn could not have started an action using someone else's special. -- James Coupe (Prince of Mercia, England) Vampire: Elder Kindred Network http://madnessnetwork.hexagon.net

No, since the someone else is not capable of taking the action in the first place. > *Damage prevention: > In combat, I play carrion crows inf. and hit for two hand damage, can my > opponent prevent all the damage by playing resilience inf or does he need > two damage prevention cards since there are two sources of damage? He can prevent all with resilience (superior). After being dealt (simultaneously), the damage is handled (prevented and then healed or whatever) without regard to the number of sources - the damage is just damage at that point. > *Fame: > If i burn a famed vampire w/ agg damage, does the controller of the vampire > burn 3 pool? What about if i use amaranth? Fame does nothing when the vampire it is on is burned - only when it goes to torpor. Amaranth would burn the vampire "rather than" send him to torpor, so it would not trigger Fame either. > *Hidden Lurker: > When the card say that the blocking minion cannot use any strikes, does it > mean not even hand strike or cannot play strike cards from hand? No one can mask Beast's special ability, because only Beast can take Beast's action. Even if someone else has an ability that mimics Beast's ability, he still cannot mask Beast's special action, since it it still Beast's card text that allows that particular action. By the same logic, you could make the following argument: You play "Social Charm" at inferior with Vasilis. You then have Agrippina play Mask of 1000 Faces to take over the action. Your prey objects to this, reminding you that Agrippina cannot take over the action because she does not have Presence. "But", you argue, "She *could* play Computer Hacking, and that is the EXACT SAME ACTION as inferior Social Charm." Obviously this argument is wrong. It is not considered the same action because it is not provided by a card of the same name, even though the effects may be identical in a particular case.
