If Carna has Pier 13, can she equip an inscription via Pier 13 and place it and a Tha card onto one of my other minions, eg Smudge? Inscription Type: Equipment Requires: Thaumaturgy Equipment. [tha] Put this equipment on a ready vampire and put a card that requires Thaumaturgy from your hand on it (face up, out of play; this acting vampire pays the cost of that card). The vampire with this equipment can burn this equipment to use the basic Thaumaturgy ability of that card. [THA] As above, but the vampire can use the superior Thaumaturgy ability of the card. Pier 13, Port of Baltimore Type: Equipment Cost: 2 blood This equipment card represents a unique location and does not count as equipment while in play. During your influence phase, this minion may equip with a non- location, non-unique equipment card from your hand (requirements and cost apply as normal). This is not an action and cannot be blocked. Magic of the Smith Type: Action Requires: Thaumaturgy Cost: 1 blood +1 stealth action. [tha] Search your library for an equipment card and equip this acting vampire with it (requirements and cost apply as normal). Shuffle afterward. [THA] As above, but this is a +3 stealth action.

I think Carna gets the Inscription. This is very much similar to http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/c45f41cc1ed2d803

No. She'd place the Inscription on herself. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/msg/c7d32f1d28c1497e [ quoted text not captured ]

[ quoted text not captured ] I don't quite see how that holds water. The effect of Pier 13 is an equip effect, not place, thus all requirements needed for the equipment have to be met. The text on the equipment itself states place this on a ready vampire. it does not state if thee action is successful, it is just card text. So why would it be placed on Carna?

Pier 13 says: "During your influence phase, this minion may equip with a non- location, non-unique equipment card from your hand (requirements and cost apply as normal). This is not an action and cannot be blocked." THIS minion may equip. Not any other minion. THIS minion. Also remember that Inscription is an action card. The result of a successful Inscription action is to place the Inscription on a ready vampire. Equipping via Pier 13 is NOT AN ACTION, so equipping via Pier 13 does not mean that you resolve a successful Inscription action. - Ben Peal

Actually Ben, Iunscription is an equipment card. Granted, that is a subset of action cards, but it is still an equipment card

A single one? Which is where the whole point that it is an action becomes somewhat redundant to me. > > Also remember that Inscription is an action card. So if you had an equipment that said "when this equipment is equipped, place it on a minion" pier 13 would not work? even though it explicitly states that the minion does EQUIP with the item? > > - Ben Peal

(Which helpfully also contains reminder text about stealth and D actions that implies that placing it onto another minion is part of equipping it as an action.) > See point above. It is not an action. Sure it is. The fact that it's equipment doesn't stop it from being an action. > So if you had an equipment that > said "when this equipment is equipped, place it on a minion" pier 13 > would not work? even though it explicitly states that the minion does > EQUIP with the item? I'd guess that that specific text *might* be sufficient to allow you to Pier13 the item, because it would trigger when the item was equipped and move it to another minion. Given that that's not at all what Inscription (and Bloodstone) say, it's kind of a straw-man, moot-point discussion. - D.J.

Another equipment/equip action that doesn't go on the acting minion would be Bloodstone. (The primary parallel used in previous threads is using Pack Alpha to play Swarm, which also doesn't get to be placed on any minion because it isn't coming into play as an action.) > > Also remember that Inscription is an action card. There's a difference between "is equipped" and "is equipped as an equip action". It is possible to be equipped without being an action, obviously, due to Pier 13's explicit wording to this effect. If you had an equipment that said "when this equipment is equipped, place it on a minion" Pier 13 would absolutely work. It doesn't work with Bloodstone or Inscription because their 'place on a minion' is not specifically 'when (merely) equipped'. > - Ben Peal -John Flournoy
