I was led to believe that the only way around the do not replace clause on Dragonbound was with VftC in effect when you played it. Is this ruling below still valid or has there been an errata? http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad/browse_frm/thread/d3b62cb40c384706/8373ab8f2a67a589?q=visit+from+the+author:lsj#8373ab8f2a67a589 Thanks in advance, Aaron Archbishop Adelaide Visit from the Capuchin Type: Master Unique master. Put this card into play with 4 counters on it. You get +X hand size, where X is the number of counters on this card. Each time you would draw to replace a card (not counting the card to replace the Visit), burn a counter from this card instead. Burn this card if it has no counters. Dragonbound Type: Event Gehenna. Do not replace as long as this card is in play. During each Methuselah's discard phase, he or she burns X pool, where X is the number of vampires in torpor he or she controls.

There's been a new printing of Visit from the Capuchin. Visit's text, as you quote, does not include a "do not replace" effect for other cards you play. [ quoted text not captured ]

You do not burn a counter from the Visit as you do not draw a card to replace Dragonbound. So, assuming you have 8 cards and 1 counter on Visit when you play Dragonbound, you now have 7 cards and 1 counter on Visit. When you play your next "normal" card. You burn the final counter and now have a hand size of 6. The old wording of Visit allowed you to get around the Do Not Replace clause as the wording stated you burnt a counter when you played a card. -- J
