Logic: CF and Riposte are strikes whose damage is not 'R'. A truth of any strike: non-ranged damage (damage without the 'R' modifier) isn't applied if the strike was done at long range. Real-World logic for Riposte: self-evident. Real-World logic for CF: non-existent (since CF isn't of the real world) -- L. I don't understand this. They are strikes (and all strikes are supposed to be resolved during Strike Resolution), yet you cannot use Pulled Fangs with sup Catatonic Fear? It makes no sense. Using the above logic, the damage from inf Thoughts Betrayed, sup Drawing out the Beast, sup Burst of Sunlight (after the 1st round) are only usable at close. And heck, if you extend that logic, let's take a look at sup Catatonic Fear and the Zip Gun (both are strikes) Zip Gun Minion with this gun takes 1 damage during Strike Resolution, but only once during combat Catatonic Fear (M) As above, but the opposing minion takes 1 damage during Strike Resolution. The damage from the Zip gun isn't applied only if at close. Maybe I'm using the wrong logic, but things don't seem to be consistant. It makes no sense. CF has errata that the damage is applied after combat ends (since Strike: Combat Ends ends combat before any damage can be done in strike resolution). PF is a combat card. It cannot be played after combat ends, which is when damage from CF is applied. So you can't depend on the damage dealt by CF to ensure that you deal more damage at close range than your opponent does. If you deal more damage than your opponent does, and then use an additional strike to play CF, then you can play PF as combat ends (before the CF damage is applied). It makes perfect sense. > Using the above logic, the damage from inf Thoughts Betrayed, > sup Drawing out the Beast, sup Burst of Sunlight (after the 1st > round) are only usable at close. TB is not a strike. DotB is not a strike. BoS deals 'R' damage. The "above logic" you are using explicitly exludes these cases. > And heck, if you extend that logic, let's take a look at sup > Catatonic Fear and the Zip Gun (both are strikes) Zip Gun is equipment, not a strike. It has a side effect for being used. [ quoted text not captured ]
