I've seen the rulings that say the damage from Rutor's Hand can be prevented with anything that prevents damage in combat. Two questions: 1) Although I'm sure the answer is yes, can you use Skin of Night (inferior) to change it to regular damage? 2) Does this ruling apply of other effects that cause (not unpreventable) damage outside of combat? So combat cards, Flak Jackets, etc. are effective. ----- By the above errata, I'd say that Skin of Night can be used (in either normal or superior mode) to offset the damage done by Rutor's Hand. >2) Does this ruling apply of other effects that cause (not >unpreventable) > damage outside of combat? In theory, probably. However, all other non-combat, damage-causing effects from Jyhad have 'Damage Not Preventable' errata/reminder text in VtES. Rutor's Hand is the only card of which I am aware that causes preventable damage outside of combat. -- L. How about Vampric Speed (I think that's the one that prevents 1 damage at superior). How would being extra swift help in this case, since the way I see the card operating, you would be cutting off your own hand? Likewise, how would a flack vest help prevent that? I'm not really talking in Jyhad terms here, just common sence. -- Modest, industrious, benevolent, temperate: is that how you would have men? Good men? Modesty, industiousness, bevevolence, temperance are just so many hinderances to a sovereign disposition, great inventiveness, heroic purposefullness, noble being-for-oneself. --Friedrich Nietzsche, "The Will to Power" /------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | You don't get what you deserve, | Good people are good because they | | You get what you take. | are not strong enought to be evil.| |-----------------------------------+------------------------------------| | Conflicts between right and wrong | 'Conscience' is nothing more than | | are a sickness of the mind. | the fear of being caught. | \------------------------------------------------------------------------/

Secondly, it could prevent the damage according to the current rulings, no matter how illogical. ********************************************************************* Santiago * It it better to do something and regret it e-mail: * than to not do something and regret it. ia...@mail.utexas.edu *
