When taking damage from superior Rutor's Hand, treat it as if you were
being struck in combat. So combat cards, Flak Jackets, etc. are effective.

By the above errata, I'd say that Skin of Night can be used (in either
normal or superior mode) to offset the damage done by Rutor's Hand.

In theory, probably. However, all other non-combat, damage-causing effects
from Jyhad have 'Damage Not Preventable' errata/reminder text in VtES.
Rutor's Hand is the only card of which I am aware that causes preventable
damage outside of combat.
