I wondering where I could find some more info about the Eye of Hazaimel. I want to get some of the LARPs interested in the storyline event but I'm not familar enough with WW back story. Isn't the Eye the reason the Gangrel left the Cam. and doesn't it belong to a Toredor Meth? Any suggestions on where to look would be great. Vincent Price

Further than that: SPOILER SPACE BELOW.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Eye is the Eye of one Hazimel, Ravnos Elder. It's surfacing (breaking the protective casing) roughly coincides with the awakening of Ravnos himself. The Gangrel leave the Cam because their Justicar, Xaviar, fights a minion carrying the Eye, together with a host of gathered gangrel, and is soundly creamed. Xaviar concludes he fought an Antideluvian, warns the Camarilla, who are a little more occupied with the Sabbat takeover of the East coast and don't pay attention to him, so he gets pissed and steps out of the Camarilla. A host of other characters is also after the eye. Some things may be wrong, since I haven't finished the series yet (currently in book 8/13, Malkavian) Tobias Deventer

It's a pretty decent story line to boot, though roughly edited. Pc.

[ quoted text not captured ] Look in the 12 Clan Novels published a couple of years ago. SPOILER STUFF!!! DON'T LOOK DOWN (unless you want to know)!!! OK. This could be innaccurate, as it is only what I gleaned from the Clan Novels, so is not based on GM knowlege or suppliments. The Eye is supposed to be an ancient artifact, and indeed the eye of an ancient Ravnos Methusula(possibly the Antideluvian?). It kind of warps the mind of the possesor if "Active" and grants him / her phenominal power (i.e. VERY high level Chimestry, which we all know is hideous). To activate it, it seems you have to engage it by putting it in your eye socket and letting it take root. Not pleasant! In the novels, a Toreador neonate accidentally gets hold of it whilst very badly beaten and close to a frenzy. He goes a bit yampy, trying to create a perfect sculpture, and ultimately decides to use flesh as his tool (!). He holes out in a cave and starts going a bit weird. Ramona (yes, that weenie Gangrel herself) and her coterie come accross him. He feels a bit threatened, and decimates her gang, leaving only herself. She finds her sire and calls a Gather. Xavier shows up and declares it open season on the critter. Of course, only about 3 Gangrel (out of about 50) survive. Xavier gets "the hump" about this and goes to the Baltimore contingent demanding that they divert all their assistance into putting this Antideluvian down. The powers in Baltimore (Pieterzoon, Victoria Ash, Theo Bell, Marcus Vittel, and a few others) look at the floor and shuffle their feet a bit. "Right" says Xavier "We're off!" and storms out. I think it was the fact that they thought at the time it was an Antideluvian, and the Camerilla refused to help, despite their centuries of saying "when they rise, we'll be ready to take them down". When push came to shove, they seemed ready to run away, not fight. Therefore, the Gangrel (i.e. the primadonna Xavier) decide it was all a pile of lies and they were being used. Also, there were issues of "why aren't you helping us? Isn't the Camerilla about helping each other?". Also, there was an element of the Camerilla BLATENTLY defying a Justicar to his face. What it all boils down to is that the penny finally dropped on Xavier that the Camerilla is only a talking shop, concerned only with petty mortal concerns. (I suspect that was the spin the authors were trying to give, but what it actually came accross as is "Xavier is a bit of a twat, isn't he!"). As such, the Gangrel (who are hardly masters of mortal concerns) should walk. And they did. The Eye was finally defeated when Theo Bell, Hesha Rudhaze, and Theo Bell all combined forces to take it down. Ramona (and her weird "spirit sight" - which seems a bit like Auspex 2) used her claws to sever the eye from Leopold (who actually turned out to be a !Tremere who had been seriously dominated). Hesha took the eye (which he had been looking for for some time - for reasons I haven't found out yet) as payment for his services and left. Ramona also left going a bit crazy (last seem being dragged off by a herd of Garou, I think). The whole Eye thread was one of about 4 decent threads in the novels. The Eye shows up in about half of them as central to the plot (noticeably in Toreador, Setite, Gangrel, Nosferatu, and to an extent Malkavian). A good set. I recommend you get them all! DH

[ quoted text not captured ] Howdy, The best place to start gathering background info on the Eye of Haz is the clan novels that White-Wolf published. One for each major clan, there are 13-books in all, and the story arc running thoughout each of them is the Eye. Note that WW didn't hire the same author for each of the books so some of them are quite decent while others are, ahem, utter poo. What's cool is that the "signature character" for each of the clans (Theo Bell, Jan Pieterzoon, Ramona, etc) is the main character for their respective clan novel, but many other characters you'll recognize from VTES play major roles (ie: Marcus Vitel, Talley the Hound, etc.). I think my favorite of the books is probably Brujah. Theo Bell is just such a bad-ass mofo, shotgunning truckloads of Sabbat and causing carnage in the name of the Camarilla. The Gangrel novel is also rather interesting since it does, in answer to your question, explain the horrific occurence (ie: a run-in with the Eye) that caused the clan to decide to leave the Camarilla. It terms of who now has the eye, per the intro to the Storyline tournament, no one, it is uncontrolled, ergo the tournament to decide. In the novels, yes, a weenie Toreador had it, then it was controlled by the FoS. The link for info on the WW website is: http://www.white-wolf.com/clannovels.html There are exceprts from each book in .pdf and I am pretty sure you can order them from there as well.

Does this storyline arc through all 13 novels? ie: are the novels not standalone stories? I am reading the first one right now and did not exaclty intend to buy/read all 13. T

Really brief story arcs below Spoiler Space [ quoted text not captured ] . . Toreador: Sets up the Sabbat offensive and the eye Tzimisce: continues sabbat offensive from sabbat side Gangrel: Eye smushes people Setite: Hesha's search for the eye... one of the better books IMO Ventrue: Baltimore politics: re sabbat offensive and Gangrels (Xavier wanting help) Lasombra: Lucita gets involved in offing sabbat leaders Assamite: The assamite connection to sabbat offensive Ravnos: Back to the eye, picks up where Setite left off as I recall Malkavian: bizarre piece of work. Anatole and the eye. Some continuation of sabbat bits. Giovanni: ties in some with sabbat offensive but seemed to centre around some Ancient Capp./Giovanni/Harbringer Brujah: Back to sabbat offensive, some Eye involvement. Cammie counter attack Tremere: The most confusing book in the series, almost unrelated to the rest. More concerned with setting up his Tremere Trilogy Nossie: Tying up the loose ends: sabbat offensive, the eye, etc. Anybody want to fill in what I missed? doing this from work... no books handy (as you can tell I was not a big fan of the Tremere book, Tzim was pretty dry to IMO. Liked Setite, rest are in the middle of road) -JTP

Well not a total disapointment. Hesha meets Vigo, Lucita contemplates suicide, Khalil gets grifted into servitude by Hazimel (not really) and Ramona the simpering twit burns all her bridges and bemoans her tortured existance. This is the story I just finished which leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully it gets better, I noticed that Theo is next at bat... Anticipation... Pc.

I figured that this were other Gangrel, > because if that are Garou... oy vey. :) Well, it wasn't clarified, but the names (from memory) sounded a bit poofy for vampires. To be honest, the whole "tying up of loose ends" that was supposed (?) to be the Anthology was wholeheartedly dissapointing. Nosferatu was also a bit pants (since it lost quite a bit of the story in its "bouncing" between plot arcs. The single most annoying thing about it was that most of the WoD setting changes mentioned in the sourcebooks were kind of glossed over. E.g. Ravnos waking up - you hear that most of the elder Rav go yampy, but never find out why unless you read the sourcebooks. The whole Calcutta thing also wasn't explained in the books (it just seemed that one night an earthquake happened and the next morning all the vampires had buggered off). On top of that, it is very confusing as to what happened to some of the characters... Anatole (last seen... err... committing Hare Kare on a fleshcrafted structure), Isabella Giovanni (did she get iced?), Vykos (why did it just walk away?) etc. It would have been nice to have some closure or follow up on what happened. That's really what the anthology should have done. Ah well... wait for the sequels, eh? DH

Some more or less stand on their own (Setite) others don't. It really is more of a 2000+ page novel. Unexplained stuff in book 1, you don't find out until the very end.

The Theo Story is possibly the best in there. I can't remember much else from the book apart from the Vykos one, which is a bit wacky (Vykos does a dungeon crawl through a chantry looking for something Goratrix left behind). I can't even remember what the Malkavian or Assamite ones were about. I'd agree that the Anthology was, on the whole, a huge anticlimax. That said (at the risk of subject creep) I have just finished the Predator and Prey books, and that is one of the best serialised tales I have read in a long while. Much better - in fact the Vampire book is a better snapshot of vampire politics than anything you see in the clan novels. DH
