I control Frederick the Weak, who has a Learjet. In a fit of pique,
Frederick Bum's Rushes Tariq the Silent. If Frederick survives the
combat, can I use the Learjet to draw two cards when I replace the Bum's
Rush?
If yes, can I also do it if Frederick gets Amaranth'ed during combat?

Yes. You are drawing to replace a card that "this minion" (FtW) played as
an acting minion.
> If yes, can I also do it if Frederick gets Amaranth'ed during combat?
No. Learjet is not in play at that time (or, if it is, then it is
on Tariq who stole it, so still no, since Tariq did not play the
Bum's Rush as an acting vampire).

Colin, I applaud you on your ability to create the most asinine scenarios
when asking rules questions/clarifications. You rival the best of them
with your abject lack of anything resembling normalcy.
If only we could all live up to your high standards. . . .

Waitaminute. Are you saying that in Lafayette, Frederick the Weak
doesn't often get a Learjet? Or that he doesn't often Bum's Rush people?
I guess the "Frederick the Weak Multirush" deck hasn't hit there yet.

Frederick the Weak

Unfortunately, we're not nearly as l337haxxors as you folks. That's why we

We may never know how many strikes it takes to get to the Frederick the

Three, usually. Two with a walking stick or a lucky blow.

Really? That's odd. Is there some ruling I missed on the card? Didn't
think it let you enter combat. I've been using Vendetta to do that, and
let me tell you, it's been a pain to setup.

But that's no good! Think of how many Frederick the Weaks you can't
influence out because you were bled!
Maybe your idea would work better with Soul Gem on Frederick so that when
he burns, you can get a free Sandra White!

That's true. I'll replace all my Vendetta's with Majesty's, post-haste.
Boy, this is going to rock Chicago.

No can do. The crypt is 12 FtWs.

Just you wait for the look on everyone's face once you rush with a
Majesty -- I bet they'll even have to look up the ruling.

Maybe Frederick should clan impersonate to Tremere since you're not
playing Vendetta anymore and then you can call Praxis Seizure: Athens to
raise your capacity. This even has synergy with that card "Bewitching
Oration". In fact, if you really want to go whole-hog with this, I'd even
play with Dread Gaze just so that no one can vote that Frederick is
broken.
Maybe you should play Surprise Influence instead since you can save your
discipline for other better reaction cards in case someone wants to bleed
you. . . you can then Rewind Time to reduce his bleed by 1!!!

What about Disarming Presence and Business Pressure? People in my
playgroup are always telling me how great those cards are, and how I
should use 'em. And they have to rock! They have this saw blade symbol
on 'em, showing just how they'll cut through the opposition.

Don't knock Business Pressure. =) It's a great way to confuse the hell
out of the opposition, especially if they're willing to spend pool for
votes.

Since I'm bored, I was pondering doing just this.
Then I read the RTR on Business Pressure:
"Each Methuselah must decide how much pool to burn for it during the
resolution of the effect. It does not give an ability for the rest of
the political action. However, there can be some give and take during
the resolution of the effect. For example, each Methuselah can choose to
burn one pool at a time as pool is burned for votes. [RTR 19960530]"
Does this also apply to Mob Rule?
Business Pressure: "[pre] Only usable during a referendum. Any
Methuselah gains 2 votes for each pool he or she burns. [PRE] SUP: As
above, but you gain 3 votes for each pool you burn."
Mob Rule: "Each vampire with a capacity above 4 can burn blood to gain
votes. A vampire gains 1 vote for each blood he or she burns. A vampire
with a capacity above 7 gains an additional vote for each blood he or
she burns."
I've never seen BP played, but Mob Rule has always been played as an
ongoing effect for that referendum.

Yes. Mob Rule is resolved when played, just like Business Pressure.

i had a anti salubri deck where Frederick was playing nose of the hound
on weenies to beat them hard with his hidden stick...
so yes, it happens too :)

I hear they're going to nerf Presence because it might end up being as
good as Sanguinus.
I bet that's why you can only use Nose of the Hound to rush with
Frederick, because he's just that much of a beast.

The sad thing is, I'm really thinking of a Multirush with Majesty. Not
for execution, but more for theory. The big issue, is Taste of Vitae
compatible with Majesty? The combat ends, is it the end of a round of
combat?
Basic theory would be
Rush
Strike 1
Blurx2
Strike A1
Strike A2 Majesty
Taste
Goto Rush.
But I'm not sure it'd work, based on the blood loss issue without
Taste.

Yes, you can play Taste even if combat ends via S:CE.

Of course, not to say that Presence isn't the most ass-kicking of
Disciplines, but you might want to consider cel/pro instead of cel/pre.
You lose Enchant Kindred and Social Charm, but Earthmeld is free, and
you gain Flesh of Marble, Claws of the Dead, Shadow of the Beast, etc.

for comparison, see Rant, which gives an ability for the duration of
the referendum (i think):
Rant! [Anarchs:C/PAB3]
Cardtype: Action Modifier
Requires a ready anarch. Only usable during a referendum before any
votes are cast.
During this referendum, each ready anarch may burn 1 blood to gain 1
additional vote. If the referendum fails, this acting vampire takes 2
unpreventable damage.

But then you can't use Frederick!
And I was thinking more in the nature of Cel/Pot/Pre ie Brujah. If I'm
using Cel/Pro, For isn't all that hard to come across. In which case
the Freak is better, and Forced March in minor.

well, i *canceled* the message the minute i sent it because Frederick
became Franciscus in my brain :)
but how it's still there i don't really know.
anyway, back to the point, with a good setup, you can fight with every
discipline.
in this !salubri deck i could rush tapped vamps with Franciscus and hit
for 3, press and hit for 3 again (assuming i did not get vaporised first
round). The set up simple: leather jackets, walking sticks, blessing of
the name. And targets to recieve the stick correction of course :)

I suppose I should belatedly note that Colin's merely exaggerating a
little bit here; I, uh... (mumbles) really did recently Bum's Rush one
of his combat-deck vampires with a puny Learjet-equipped !Brujah solely
to get to Learjet the replacement... (thus prompting his original
question). *hangs his head in shame*
But he still gets a prize for morphing it to Frederick rushing Tariq.
