a much needed one... Blooding by the code Master put this card on a !salubri you control. this !salubri gains 1 level of val and +1 strenght and 1capacity. only 1 BbtC cost is 1 pool trying to make !salubri playbles??? ;-) Andrea

Cool! A very good card and it's 'not-unique'. RavATwoFaces

Fabio Ciccone

Beautiful card... All I wished for since I decided to play !Salubri last January... Must have to any !Salubri clan... specially if it's group 2 (who knows what is coming in G4...) Fabio Ciccone, Giovanni with sup Valeren

Is BbtC playable on a vampire with superior Valeren? My Scotty-Sense is telling me No, (but wouldn't it be nice to have that +1 strength and +1 capacity on my copy of Jeff Tho...err, Adonai?) [ quoted text not captured ] got to say, I just love this card. and it's common :D

[ quoted text not captured ] I can't see why not, in the same way that counters from the Seal of Vedartha give levels of dominate to vampires with DOM you just ignore the disciplin aspect of the card. -Ant

"Anthony Coleman" <Bunti...@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1129037117....@g43g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... [ quoted text not captured ] There is a (mild) difference between counters on the Seal which in turn provide a discpline, and giving a discipline directly to the vampire itself. There's a (deliberate?) difference in wording, too: Seal, Hand, Fragment, Skin Mask: "...gains superior (discipline)" BbtC: "...gains one level of Valeren" [LSJ 20011227]* defines the levels of disciplines as 0 (none), 1 (normal), and 2 (superior). The lack of any metnion of "3" makes me conclude that you cannot directly (intentionally) raise a discipline above Superior (2). The wording on BbtC more closely approximates that of a Master: Discipline card than it does the Seal, so thats where I drew my conclusion from... Maybe I'm wrong (I hope so!)... *shrug* DaveZ Atom Weaver From the ERC page: * [LSJ 20011227] The Master: Discipline card increases the vampire's level of the Discipline by 1 while it is on the vampire. Discipline levels: 0 (none), 1 (normal), and 2 (superior).

There is a difference true, and admittedly 'grant' does imply that its on an if needed basis, but my scott-sense is telling me it will be fine :O) ...or at least im optomisticly hoping that to be the case.

[ quoted text not captured ] Why do the card have the ": the salubri antitribu is one generation older"? isnt this redundant? if the capacity increases by 1 the generetion MUST increase...

talonz

I'm curious as to why the designers felt this bit of text was necesary "the vampire is one generation older". And right after the card states the vampire gains one capacity. Seems redundant, and generation is not a useful indicator in vtes iirc. Don't have my eldb with me so can't check if that term has been used on a card before. I don't believe it has. G

[ quoted text not captured ] Unlike Master: Discipline cards (and look, it's not a Discipline master!), Blooding By The Code has no text restricting it from being played on a vampire with the relevant superior discipline. If it wasn't playable on a vampire with [VAL], it would presumably say so, just as the Auspex master card says that it can't be placed on a vampire with [AUS] (for instance.) > DaveZ > Atom Weaver -John Flournoy

Luis Duarte - Powerbase:Lisbon

Great card. Not unique, common, very playable and very useful! But (because things can always improve) it shouldn't have a cost to meet other master discipline cards. The limitation would be that these card can only be played in a !Salubri.... I start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for this set.... .- Luis Duarte

You're right. I was forgetting the extra strength part. Much better this way. Thanks. .- Luis Duarte

[ quoted text not captured ] Celerity [Jyhad:C, VTES:C, Sabbat:C, SW:C/PB, FN:PA, CE:C, Anarchs:PAG, KMW:PAl] Cardtype: Master Capacity: +1 Master: Discipline. Put this card on a vampire. This vampire gains one level of Celerity [cel]. Capacity increases by 1: the vampire is one generation older. Cannot be placed on a vampire with superior Celerity. -Robert

Screaming Vermillian

[ quoted text not captured ] Is it referred to by any OTHER non discipline card? Younger is definied by capacity, yes? So if its capacity changes, so does its 'age' (younger/older) by the rules... its like printing 'this vampire may now gain one additional blood from the blood bank than before'. Duh. Am I right? ~SV

The point is that it has been with us since the very beginning, on some very common cards. And even so, although it scarcely matters, the answer to the new arbitrarily-restrictive query is still: yes. Sanguine Instruction. And before you ask, it is not referred to by any OTHER non-master, non-action libary cards, nor any crypt cards. Alarming though that may be. -- That is my story, be it bitter or be it sweet. I didn't mean to lump the Seal in with that group. My point was that the text was sufficiently similar to the Master: Discipline cards, and that the ruling I cited implied to me that the "gain one level of (discipline)" effect maxxes out at 2... I guess it could go either way, depending upon which precedent you use. (Too much Ssupreme Court appointments media coverage is showing through in _that_ comment :-) > And the text from this new card is " This Salubri antitribi gains one > level of val" > > It seems to me that it is the same mechanic as the seal, and not the > same as the other disciplin giving equipment. T The question is, is there a level 3 (or higher) to disciplines? In this, if I were to place Blooding the Code on Mata Hari, I assume that the capacity increase is also specific to her Clan Impersonating to !Salubri? Andy

Johannes Walch

[ quoted text not captured ] That would depend if the gain in Cap, Strength and Valeren is due to the fact that the card is on her or happens when you place it on here as a kind of "permamnent ability". In the former case it doesn´t work because after the card has been played she is still Ravnos, in the latter case it would work but the wording seems to contradict this.

Eldacar351

I'm also sharing everybody's enthusiasm about this card. The !Salubri always seemed like a nifty little combat oriented clan that got short changed. Now they have at least one additional powerful card to their arsenal. However, as good as this card is, it actually doesn't give the !Salubri an extra edge or a bonus. Rather it simply corrects the two major flaws with the !Salubri: They were a bit too small for a combat clan on average and they did not have enough access to their primary discipline. So in a sense, Blooding by the Code, it's +1 strength bonus aside, is just a card that kinda brings the !Salubri up to what should have been their original potential. And therefore, if you put it into !Salubri deck, you are devoting valuable card slots to what is essentially a retroactive clan correction. Still a good card. I'm not knocking it or the designers. It looks like it's going to be a good set overall. We V:TeS players are lucky that when we are offered a set we get qualtiy 99.999999% of the time. [ quoted text not captured ]
