[LSJ]Alastor with inscription

If a vampire success at an "Alastor" political action and choses an "Inscription" equipment card, can he use the basic or the advanced version of the Thaumaturgy card? Or would it have no effect?

[ quoted text not captured ] If a card that requires a Discipline is played by a means other than the standard "play" of the card, treat it as if it were brought into play with the basic version of the Discipline.
