So now we're in a hurry to hire an experienced UNIX system administrator. Here are the gory details: Overview: We have four decent Sun UNIX servers, a T1 Internet link, some 170 Macs, a few PC's, about 50 mailing lists in varying states of repair, NNTP access to news and a lot of info on a guest FTP/Web site. The ideal candidate for this position is friendly and enthusiastic, comfortable with responsibility and has a healthy grasp of good public relations. Recommended Skills & Experience: * A degree in Computer Science or related field. * Sendmail: sendmail.cf hacking, security. * SunOS administration. * Usenet news: inn, nn, newswatcher, News<->Mail, News<->HTML. * Mail: Pine, MIME, HTML, forwards, quotas, backups. * Listserv: automation, cron, archiving. * Mac integration (CAP, Netscape, POP3, Eudora, Appleshare, etc). * FTP: security, list archives, organization. * Web: dev tools, script support, watching leading edge tech. * Expertise with Nerf weaponry * Hardware planning: Listserv, Web, FTP, mail, MUD's, etc will require clear upgrade paths and excellent performance planning skills. * Independent problem solving; self-direction. * IP networking and security: DNS, routing, firewalls. * Perl programming; C++ programming. Required Experience: * Three to five years system administration experience, preferrably in both corporate and University environments. * Strong writing and interpersonal communication skills. * Sendmail: sendmail.cf hacking, security.
