The first ever V:TES Developer Chat will be held next Tuesday, the 20th of August, at 5:00 pm Eastern US Daylight Time (GMT-400). A link will appear on the V:TES homepage when the chat is ready to begin. Both Steve Wieck and I will be online to discuss the new Camarilla Edition as well as other V:TES topics. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. What time? I've heard of this 4.00am before, but assumed that it was a myth, perpetuated by late night alocohol abuse... On a schoolnight too - fer shame!!! It would have been nice to move it to a little later (e.g. 9pm your time) so we in GMT could at least be conscious enough to write something other than "Bleeeeurgh....". Hmmm... Still, bold move - facing the Hoi Palloi. DH

Will the chat work in Netscape on Unix (i.e., no Flash requirement, etc.)? Regards, Noal

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] Yes. It requires Java. It should work on any machine/browser that has Java. If you'd like to verify that the chat will work on your browser, check the existsing chats at http://www.white-wolf.com/Interactive/JavaChats.html [ quoted text not captured ]

First line says only name (character?, real?, both?), password, e-mail is necessary if you want to chat OOC. In filling out the form, it keeps wanting additional info. Is the first line inaccurate or what?

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] Looks like it's inaccurate. Fill out the "additional info" that it prompts for. [ quoted text not captured ]

Or will this develpoer chat use its own sign up proces? Is there any limit to the number of people? Is it a moderated chat? -- Aaron The Nosferatu Stuff

There is always a limit to the number of people a given server can handle. I don't think we'll be pushing up against that limit, however. The chat will be unmoderated, TTBOMK. TTBOMK? What? the thing banns obscene monkey kings? Are you calling me a monkey king? Will there be any time limits? I'm going to start making a list of things to ask. For example: what if a legitimate Monkey King (non-obscene) tries to connect and cannot because it is registering as obscene. Sure, there's always the opportunity for obscenity, but the Monkey King shouldn't be banned from posing legitimate, polite questions. LSJ: why did you tell people it will be unmoderated? It just encourages those who've been throwing fits over the new look to come into the room and dominate it with loads of crap. Hopefully you'll be able to ban people. [ quoted text not captured ]

The first one only wieck, LSJ and the moderator can post to, but everyone will see. The rest of us will be in another chatroom. We submit a question, then moderator selects the good ones, and passes them on to lsj/wieck and if someone's being an asshole they can be kicked out. Also with the RPG dev chat at least they usually have a couple skill-testing questions at the end for free prizes. I don't know if the VTES chat will do the same. Peter Muto VEKN Prince of Toronto

(some of us at least) On that note, I am hoping that we can get you to come out on thurs after the release for a trade fest at All your base? Mostly just interested in seeing the new art and stuff. And very interested in trading for your Malkey toys...(if you might be able to part with a few of them. Pc.

This has nothing to do with V:tES but has anyone read that old Swamp Thing story by Alan Moore about the 'Monkey King'? I swear that story still scares the bejeebies out of me... *shiver* Cheers, WES
