Hi ! i had a little rule problem. If you dodge a strike, the additional effects of the strike are ignored, huh ? but some effects still apply... We all know that "minion gets -1 hand damage" from bonecraft is ignored if you dodge, but the "press" from a thrown sewer lid is still there. Now what about kraken Kiss ? the superior version allows you to get a press AND steal blood as a strike for the remainder of combat. what if it is dodged ? you still get the press and special ability for remainder of combat ? and now, imagine opposing vampire plays "combat ends". You stick with him by "telepatic tracking". Is the Kraken kiss ability activated, since majesty is supposed to negate other strikes ? by the way, we had a problem tonight.... I had a bomb on Huang. I chose it for my strike but opponent played combat ends. Is the bomb burned ? i think not but... i think there was a ruling on this : grenades and bombs are not burned if combat ends. please help me out ! reyda

The additional effects on your minion are ignored. This is all. Rulebook sec 6.4.5 Strike Effects http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/rulebook/rulebook.html#sec6_4_5 "Dodge only cancels effects that are directed at the dodging minion." > but some effects still apply... Everything that doesn't affect your minion is still available to the player of the strike. > We all know that "minion gets -1 hand damage" from bonecraft is > ignored if you dodge, but the "press" from a thrown sewer lid is > still there. Correct. > Now what about kraken Kiss ? the superior version allows you to > get a press AND steal blood as a strike for the remainder of combat. And it will do the same thing if it is dodged. In RPG terms it shouldn't, but this is a CCG, and the second + round effects of the card are not tied to the strike hitting the opposing minion the round it is played. > what if it is dodged ? you still get the press and special ability > for remainder of combat ? Yes. > and now, imagine opposing vampire plays "combat ends". You stick > with him by "telepatic tracking". Is the Kraken kiss ability > activated, since majesty is supposed to negate other strikes ? The additional effects of the card are still available. Strike: combat ends doesn't negate the opponents strike card, it negates any effect it might have on the minion playing the Strike: Combat Ends. > by the way, we had a problem tonight.... > I had a bomb on Huang. I chose it for my strike but opponent played > combat ends. Is the bomb burned ? No. You never get to regular strike resolution, so the bomb has no chance of going off and doesn't get used. You have announced your intention to use the bomb as your strike, you haven't used it for a strike. > i think not but... > i think there was a ruling on this : grenades and bombs are not > burned if combat ends. This is correct, but was not a ruling, merely a clarification of the timing of strike resolution. This is also covered in 6.4.5 strike effects. Carpe Noctem. Not true. Since the Kraken's Kiss strike never resolved, none of its effects are applied. > > by the way, we had a problem tonight.... > > I had a bomb on Huang. Even if you continue the combat with TT, the bomb is still not burned, since the strike doesn't resolve. This parallels the Kraken's Kiss case. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) VTES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. For the sake of completeness - so are effects on equipment on the minion. Sabbat War rulebook, 6.4.5: "A dodge strike deals no damage, but it protects the dodging minion and his possessions from the effects of the opposing strike. Retainers are not protected, however." Fast Hands (Shattering Blow, etc.) can be tragically ineffective against celerity-based weapons decks. (As long as they didn't have to use the maneuver on a gun, anyhow.) Josh hello, Brian...
