It has just been pointed out to me that the Anarchs rulebook included an announcement for the next expansion : the Black Hand, coming out November !!! This inspires a few things to me : - I'm glad this theme was chosen, and am sure there will be great things, especially concerning big vampires - I would have prefered a later date, because the players (myself included) may have trouble following too frequent expansions, a) moneywise, and b) gamewise (although the CE didn't bring that many changes, and Anarchs sure doesn't seem as rich - and long to assimilate - as Bloodlines, but of course that opinion is personnal) - Will we see any new True Brujah and Nagaraja ??? - Does this open the door for the next expansion : The Inconnu ? Or will this one also include a few intruders like VLAD or MONTANO ?!?!?! - LSJ, I WANT/NEED to be a pre-tester !! Pretty please with blood on top ? I'm the first one to ask... ;-) All in all, I can't wait... Orpheus -- "When you dream, sometimes you remember When you wake, you always forget". Neil Gaiman

So no Trujahs and Nagarajas.. (the True Hand was destroyed, and the survivors scattered, but then again, the !Tremere were also destroyed, so maybe we will see a little bit of both hands). I personally also think that November is a bit early as well, but it´s not like WW has officially announced it yet on their site or anything, so they COULD still change the date. Granted, Anarchs is a small expansion, but especially moneywise a date like Februrary or March next year would be better. The single most important thing WW could do to keep the spirit of players up along with their love of the game they already have, which is announce another expansion, so it couldn´t hurt to wait another 3 ou 4 months before we see it! :) Montano would be very welcome indeed, tn any expansion!! I would love to see him as the first 11cap Lasombra. Maybe alongside Yorak and his Cathedral of Flesh or even The Dracon as a Tzimisce 11cap. Vlad would be nice, but not as an 11cap... (I haven´t seen or heard news from Velya yet, but I assume he is a 10cap Tzimisce since no one bothered to say anything about him) Including some Iconnu Monitors would be nice as well! Pity not much else about the Iconnu can be introduced without WW having to make it up first as there is little to no information (arguably a good thing). And here goes nothing: LSJ, I would also like to be considered for a playtester if at all possible! I would be greatly honored to receive such a vote of confidence. AAAAARGH !! :-( Well, then count me in for the next one ?! How long in advance do we have to apply ? And if some of your playtesters die "accidently", please put me in line (if not, some more will have to die...). Orpheus, adept of the "Giovanni way".

> >(although the CE didn't bring that many changes, and > > Except for 100 new vampires allowing totally new strategies. LOL. Of course. But how long did it take to assimilate the expansion, compared to Bloodlines ? Sure, we didn't get to test it all yet (luckily), but there were few new cards, and many of the new vampires were variations on possible strategies. I'm not saying it wasn't a good expansion, I think it was, but the assimilation time wasn't as long as for Bloodlines (still lots of variations I didn't get to try...). > > Anarchs sure > > doesn't seem as rich - and long to assimilate - as Bloodlines, but of > course > > that opinion is personnal) > > Yet to prove. Of course. Time will tell, and when I get enough of it I will develop, that wasn't my goal here. No matter how long it will take us to digest the (few in comparison to Bloodlines) new cards, and new "strategies" in Anarchs, I still feel that Black Hand is coming too soon. But then, I guess WW doesn't HAVE to get it at the time when it's announced ; however, my guess would be that postponing it after Christmas would be a very bad commercial move, so... :-( (can't wait, on the other - black - hand...). But if WW heeds what more than a few players just said here, maybe they will space the next expansions a little more (one year would be fine in my book). Orpheus

Although the Anarchs art is pretty nice, the picture of Velya is a glaring exception. Ugh. As an aside, most of my favorite art in this set is from Shy... he can do great work when he's not in "mass production" mode. //Petri

Although the Anarchs art is pretty nice, the picture of Velya > is a glaring exception. Ugh. The problem is, some painters simply don"t understand what a vampire may look like : Does Velya look like a vampire to you ? he's like a character from any cheap heroic fantasy compendium. The Nosferatu from Camarilla Expansion also looked like trolls or goblins or whatever : especially those with fortitude (the 4 cap with the big foots and 6 cap with a hat). Hey, come on, it's a vampire game ! they suppose to look mean and dangerous ! someone has to inform them ! About the anarch set, look at Clarissa or Lisa for more nonsense : they look like mortal allies. And Clarissa may fit in a Merfolk deck for a certain other game imho... =) > As an aside, most of my favorite art in this set is from Shy... he > can do great work when he's not in "mass production" mode. yup ! this expansion shows the best Shy can do !! Brunhilde, Karsh and Quentin King III adv all look great =) at least this guy portrays vampires. It's also cool to see that Lawrence Snelly gets better and better at this photo-to-art stuff. Danielle Diron or Martin frankell deserves a A+ grade in my book =) reyda

[ quoted text not captured ] Not going to get into that, the two rules for a happy life being never to start a land war in Asia, and never to get into an aesthetic dispute with a French person [unless, of course, you yourself happen to be Asian or French respectively]. However, i can't resist passing on the following wise observation from Rob Treasure, to the effect that Week of Fortune really IS [or really appears to be] the worst piece of card-art ever, even worse than Fee Stake: Corte and Exuding Blood. Or so a shallow and unobservant person might conclude. The Enlightened will see it for what it is - a fine representation of a patch of dog-shit, with the purple heads of the tape-worms shyly peeking through. Yes folks, we are into the brave new world of Dog-Poo: The Eternal Stickiness. O, and has anyone else noticed how nice the new cards smell?

Exuding blood is a bit..._active_, perhaps, but I wouldn't call it awful. Fee Stake: Corte is just tedious. I'm not seeing the awfulness. And year of Fortune is just a starry sky, is it not? Have years of media coverage of the Royal Family destroyed all ability to tell 'pretty' from 'icky' across the pond? None of these cards is a patch on, say, Gerard Rafiq for sheer amateurishness of execution and unpleasantness to behold, or the new artwork for (shudder) Blood Puppy. Or Shotgun Ritual. >O, and has anyone else noticed how nice the new cards smell? No, but I'm very pleased with the coating. CE was too matte for my taste, and the promo Vitels too glossy. Anarchs seems to have really hit the sweet spot, varnish-wise. Mm. Sweet, sweet varnish. Why not drink some right now? gomi -- Individually, I love you all with affection unspeakable; but, collectively, I look upon you with a disgust that amounts to absolute detestation. - Gilbert and Sullivan, 'Pirates of Penzance'
