Some pretty heated exchanges going on over on that other thread. For myself, I feel pretty confident that Stéphane Lavrut will run the EC tournament properly. I don't think he'll be improperly "discouraging" legal play, as has been suggested. This is a big event, true, and it is also the first such event for Stéphane, so there may indeed be some growing pains. But I don't think that mis-judging the deal-making rules will be one of them. I could be wrong. I suspect I'll encounter similar problems at the NA Championships, although I'll have an easier time (in terms of the tone of the arguments from the players) than Stéphane will, given the nature of our positions. The point is that, like some of the qualifiers have shown, this new tournament scene has a lot of pressure that V:TES has not previously seen. Rather than hurling threats, insults, and claims of "sour grapes" around, a better approach would be to calmly state the perceived problems (or the problems you imagine we might have). If you have a suggested solution for the judge to use, then fine. If you are concerned that the judge may not be inclined to perform his duties, then contact the judge himself and see if it is true. Or, if you prefer, bring your concerns to me. Either of these has a much better chance of producing positive results (esp. if the conerns turn out to be valid) than attacking each other on the public forums will. The public forums route has the benefit of enabling you to say "I told you so" if your concerns are validated at the championship, but would you rather have bragging rights to predicting the problem or have the problem corrected before the fact so that the tournament runs as smoothly as possible? If, at the tournament, you think that the judge has mis-ruled something, you are free to offer your ideas on the subject, but if the judge doesn't accept them, then that's that. The Head Judge is the final authority at the tournament. Arguing with the judge is not allowed. If you feel that the Head Judge has not made a reasonable effort to abide by the official rules, then you can bring it up to the V:EKN after the fact for review so that the V:EKN can take the appropriate action. Direct such complaints either to myself or to the V:EKN Chairman, Robert Goudie. Remember that we're all here for the same purpose - to play (and to enjoy playing) this game. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc.
