Can a minion choose to do no strike, even to forego his hand strike? For example, since immortal grapple says a minion can do only hand strikes, can the minion choose to do nothing instead? Also, if a minion cannot strike from long does that mean he is actually striking with his hands or not striking at all? reasoning: The grammar and normative vocabulary usage in this example is meant to exclude other strikes, not impose an obligation of hand strikes. Analogy: If I tell you you can only eat with your hands, you could say, "Fine. I'll not eat." I just want to clear some things up with the playgroup. Thanks, Dave Stevers

He must have some other strike (and use it) to change that default. "No strike" is not an option unless the default (striking) is overridden (cf. Hidden Lurker). > For example, since immortal grapple says a minion can do only hand > strikes, can the minion choose to do nothing instead? No. > Also, if a > minion cannot strike from long does that mean he is actually striking > with his hands or not striking at all? He is striking with his hands, and is simply ineffective at long range. > reasoning: The grammar and normative vocabulary usage in this example > is meant to exclude other strikes, not impose an obligation of hand > strikes. The obligation (to declare a strike) exists independently of the Immortal Grapple card. > Analogy: If I tell you you can only eat with your hands, you could > say, "Fine. I'll not eat." If you have to eat and are told "you can only eat with your hands" ... -- L. Scott Johnson (vte...@wizards.com) VTES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast.
