Hello ! Here's today's not-that-stupid question : My proud Assamite bleeds for 3 with Loss. The action is not blocked nor deflected. My prey is about to burn 3 pool, when someone else plays Major Boon. How many counters does my Alamut receive ? Is it 0 or 3 ? Thanks. -- Relevant cardtexts: Name: Alamut Cardtype: Master Clan: Assamite Cost: 1 pool Master: unique location. If an Assamite you control successfully bleeds another Methuselah, put the pool lost by that Methuselah on this card. During {the referendum of} a political action, you may burn X blood from this card to give a vampire you control X votes for that referendum. Name: Major Boon Cardtype: Master Master: out-of-turn. Boon. Put this card in play when another Methuselah is successfully bled. Not usable if you control the acting minion. Modifiers to the bleed amount may be played after you play this card. You burn pool for the bleed instead of the target Methuselah (must be at least 1 pool or this card is burned). You may burn this card to have that Methuselah burn pool instead of you when you are successfully bled. [Sorry Jozxyqk for not being able to mention Shroud of Absence in this ... oh, well, here it is.]

Correct.

[ quoted text not captured ] So is this another case where it's a successful action but not a successful bleed? Or is this a successful bleed for 0? I'm confused because Major Boon requires the bleed be successful, so is it that there was a successful bleed in a temporary sense that Major Boon effectively cancels/changes the form of the damage to 'non-bleed' pool loss? Thanks in advance for the clarification, CJay

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] The action is successul (resolved unblocked). The bleed is successful (a bleed for 3). The target loses no pool, though, by card text on Major Boon. Major Boon doesn't reduce the bleed; it just changes who burns pool for the successful bleed.

witness1

[ quoted text not captured ] There is a successful bleed for 3. The pool is lost by the booning methuselah instead of the bled methuselah, however, and Alamut only gains counters equal to what the bled methuselah lost, which is zero. -witness1

It's a successful bleed, it's just that the pool is lost by another Methuselah. Alamut's text says: If an Assamite you control successfully bleeds another Methuselah, put the pool lost by that Methuselah on this card. So, when I bleed LSJ (another Methuselah) for 3, the 3 pool counters LSJ loses (that Methuselah) are put on this card. When I do the same 3 bleed again LSJ (another Methuselah) and you play Major Boon, LSJ (that Methuselah) loses zero pool. You (an entirely different Methuselah) lose 3. Alamut only cares about the amount of pool lost by the target of the bleed. LSJ was the target of the bleed, you weren't. LSJ lost 0 pool, you lost 3, so I put all 0 of LSJ's pool-loss on my Alamut. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D YOU ARE IN ERROR.
