Hi! My name is Peter and I have a couple of questions about V:tES cards. I hope I'm in the right place to ask them (and don't get flamed at start %)). These are the unclearities that has been bothering me. 1. fleshcraft - [VIC] - lowers the stealth by 2. Does it mean that a vampire affected by it has to play cards that will give him +2 stealth to perform any action? Or does it just drops his stealth to "0". For example if fleshcrafted vampire [VIC] tries to hunt or equip (which s +1 stealth action) he has to add +1 steath just to perform it at 0 stealth? 2. Is it possible to play master discipline cards on torporous vampires? 3. Is it possible to play master discipline cards on uncontrolled vampires? 4. The cards like 'Aid form Bats' or 'Thrown Gate' have strike with optional maneuver. Am I to play this card during the maneuver phase (before the strikes) if i want to use it as a maneuver modifier, and then I am obliged to use it's strike or I use it in the strike phase suddenly changing the distance (at long usualy) amnd making a strike 2R? Hmmm, looks quite stupid, but I'd be very grateful if you could help me. Regards. dIABEU

Correct. Note that he it doesn't stop him from attempting the action -- he can attempt to bleed even at -2 stealth -- it's just that if someone attempted to block him, he would need to generate at least 3 stealth to slip by. > 2. Is it possible to play master discipline cards on torporous vampires? Yes. Vampires in torpor are still controlled, so unless the master card specifies "ready" (and the Discipline cards do not), you can play it on vampires in torpor. > 3. Is it possible to play master discipline cards on uncontrolled vampires? No. Uncontrolled vampires aren't in play. Unless the master card (or any card, for that matter) specifically mentions "uncontrolled", it can't be played on one. > 4. The former. If you play it during the manuever phase, you can use its manuever, but then you are committed to making that strike (even if it's not possible, eg, Immortal Grapple, in which case you get no strike). If you play it in the strike phase, you don't get the manuever. --Colin McGuigan

Does it mean that a > vampire affected by it has to play cards that will give him +2 > stealth to perform any action? Or does it just drops his stealth to > "0". it drops the stealth to zero. But if you want to have a final +1 stealth on an action you're trying to perform, you'll have to add +3 stealth to your action (-2+3= 1). > For example if fleshcrafted vampire [VIC] tries to hunt or equip > (which s +1 stealth action) he has to add +1 steath just to perform > it at 0 stealth? that's it. If he would'nt add that stealth, his action would still be at 0 stealth however, as explained above. > 2. Is it possible to play master discipline cards on torporous > vampires? first, it is easier for everyone who wants to help you to quote the concerned card text. here is the text of a master:skill = animalism (for exemple) Master: Discipline. Put this card on a vampire. This vampire has Animalism; if the vampire already had Animalism, he or she now has superior Animalism. Capacity increases by 1: the vampire is one generation older. Cannot be played on a vampire with superior Animalism. So, as long as you don't play that card on a vampire who has got a superior level of the discipline skill card, you can play it on any vampire. That also means, not only YOUR vampire, but also one of someone else (that can be useful when you"steal" a vampire of another Meth, to have him bleed or whatever with a Daring the Dawn, if you put a skill fortitude on him before, for example). Vtes is a game where there are many colours, but no shade. Card text is really detailed. You could'nt play a skill card on anybody if the card text would have mentionned "on a ready vampire", "on a controlled vampire". > 3. Is it possible to play master discipline cards on uncontrolled > vampires? By the way, yes. > 4. The cards like 'Aid form Bats' or 'Thrown Gate' have strike with > optional maneuver. Am I to play this card during the maneuver phase > (before the strikes) if i want to use it as a maneuver modifier, and > then I am obliged to use it's strike That's it. Exactly. If for example, you play a thrown gate during your manoeuver phase, and your opponent comes back to close range and then plays an immortal grapple, you won't be able to strike on the first strike segment of this round, as you already announced you strike earlier. > or I use it in the strike phase > suddenly changing the distance (at long usualy) amnd making a strike > 2R? no. > Hmmm, looks quite stupid, but I'd be very grateful if you could help > me. you will never be stupid for asking questions. [ quoted text not captured ] Right, as I understand it (taking the questions in order) 1) - Basically a vampire whose stealth goes below 0 is treated as having stealth 0 except for the purposes of playing stealth cards. i.e. your vampire was hunting at +1 stealth, someone plays fleshcraft which would put you at -1 stealth. The action would continue at 0 stealth, but any increases to stealth you play will start from -1, so you would have to add 2 stealth to get back to +1 stealth. 2) - As long as a card does not state that it has to be placed on a ready vampire it can be placed on a torpored vampire, so yes, Master: Discipline cards can be played on torpored vampires. 3) - It is not possible to place Master: Discipline cards on uncontrolled vampires. 4) - You were right the first time, you play the cards during the maneuver phase but that means that you are tied into that strike and you have to use the thrown gate or aid from bats as your strike. Colin answered all the questions correctly to the best of my knowledge, but for those that are interested, I believe that most of these questions are answered in the V:tES FAQ. http://www.thelasombra.com/vtes_faq.htm >1. fleshcraft - [VIC] - lowers the stealth by 2. These appear to be in the rulebook itself, and are not clarified in the FAQ. #2 yes, #3 no. Master cards may be played (by default, barring card text) on minions that you control. Uncontrolled vampires are (surprisingly) not controlled. >4. The cards like 'Aid form Bats' or 'Thrown Gate' have strike with optional >maneuver. I'm surprised that this one isn't in the FAQ either. But yes, the former is correct, as Colin pointed out. You must play it during the maneuver phase if you want to gain the maneuver. Once you are past the maneuver phase, range may not be changed (barring some sort of crazy new card that changes the range as a strike, or as a side effect of a strike). Xian

Three people in a row just posted incorrectly that 0-2="0" You can perform an action at -1 stealth. Someone will need at least -1 intercept to block it.

I'd love to see a game where the stealthily impaired (maybe very Concordant Baali) went up against the interceptily impaired (Daughters of Cacophony?). It seems hauntingly familiar of the Cripple Fight from South Park... Halcyan 2

[ quoted text not captured ] But what happens when some one plays Draba on a -2 stealth action is it at zero stealth again? Since Draba reduces the stealth to 0 will it effectively boost the stealth to 0. Emile "We are an ape with a symbiotic relationship to a mushroom"

Giovanni bleeds, gets blocked, plays Call of the Hungry death (inf). Prey taps Aranthebes, to lower Giovanni's stealth by one. So both have -1.
