Ok, here's yet again a bunch of questions that have cropped up: - There was discussion about this on the list, but I missed out on whether any concensus was reached: how does Soul Burn work? Namely the text "For the remainder of this round, the opposing minion cannot inflict damage with weapons.". Since Blood Fury / Blood Rage use the different template "If the opposing vampire attempts to strike with a weapon this round, he or she does no damage.", is there a difference between these cards? In other words, if minion A uses a Magnum and minion B strikes with Soul Burn, does the SB cancel the Magnum strike? Or does the SB merely prevent damage from additional strikes with the gun this turn (making the effect not-so-useful)? - Ambrosius has the text "Ambrosius is immune to damage that is not aggravated.". Fine, but what about Theft of Vitae or other steal blood / burn blood effects? Since these are treated as damage to allies, do they kill Ambrosius or not? - Pentex Subversion: I seem to recall that the card stayed under the control of the player who played it, so that the (D) action to burn it can only be blocked by the player who originally played the card. Is this true, or am I hallucinating? - Card Control: is there any general guideline on what cards remain in "general play" and which cards are under the control of specific players? This becomes important with the new rules about cards under player control leaving play when a player is ousted (instead of the old rules about a player taking all his cards with him). For instance, is a Pentex Subversion burned when the player who played it is outsted? //Petri

The current (and hopefully soon to be revised) way to make Soul Burn affect the opposing minion's first weapon strike is to play Soul Burn as a First Strike. > - Ambrosius has the text "Ambrosius is immune to damage that is not > aggravated.". Minion cards are controlled by the minion they are on. If you control the minion, you control their stuff. Noal McDonald Michigan Jyhad League -- DISCUSSION, n. [ quoted text not captured ] Nope. Stealing blood isn't damage and isn't affected by things that relate to damage. Noal [ quoted text not captured ]

Yes. Blood Fury and Blood Rage will affect the opposing minion's current weapon strike (unless it was done with First Strike). Soul Burn will not (unless it was done with First Strike and the opposing minion's weapon strike was not done at First Strike). > In other words, if minion A uses a Magnum and minion B strikes with > Soul Burn, does the SB cancel the Magnum strike? Since these are treated as damage to > allies, do they kill Ambrosius or not? They work normally. If Ambrosius loses his last life, he is burned as normal. (From <7xiue38...@termiitti.akumiitti.fi>) ...and as a follow-up to myself, what about Nephandus and the Gargoyle Slave? Do their damage decrease/prevent specials also work against Theft of Vitae etc? No. Steal Blood is not damage. It is not affected by effects that modify/prevent damage. > - Pentex Subversion: I seem to recall that the card stayed under the > control of the player who played it, so that the (D) action to burn > it can only be blocked by the player who originally played the > card. Is this true, or am I hallucinating? This is true. Every Master card remains controlled by the Methuselah who played it, barring card text to the contrary. > - Card Control: is there any general guideline on what cards remain in > "general play" and which cards are under the control of specific > players? All cards in play are controlled by a specific Methuselah. Each Crypt card in play is controlled by the Methuselah who put it into play. Each Master card in play is controlled controlled by the Methuselah who put it into play. Each Minion card is controlled by the controller of the minion it is on. If it is not on a minion, then it is controlled by the Methuselah who put it into play. Card text can override this, of course. > instance, is a Pentex Subversion burned when the player who played > it is outsted? If she still controls it (which is the usual case), yes. -- L.
