Here is our house rules. 100 card minimum deck. No card limits, but to keep the game interesting we generally don't stack our decks with powerful cards. It gets predictable if you do and takes all the fun out of the game seeing the same card over and over. Ya, we'll have maybe 10 dodge with an additional strikes in a celerity based deck or even 10 strike: combat ends in other decks, but we find that card repetition in a 100 card deck is not a problem. This allows us to try all kind of combinations of cards. The games last about an hour and a half, but that doesn't seem to be a problem either. Vote, equipping, retainers and ally action cards are played face down. First strikes take place before dodges or combat ends. Bleed modifiers can not be played if a stealth card has been played. If a vampire with a plus bleed or a vampire with plus bleed equipment or retainer or other effects bleeds, stealth can be played. You can throw as many votes as you want in you hand during a political. action, but they are not replaced until the end of the voting action Methuselah's turn. The Tomb and Heidelberg Castle's card text are played as read. The Castle can be tapped at any time. Going to take 6 agg damage and burn form a strike? Tap the HC and strip that vampire of everything the card allows and put it on another vampire. Or, tap the Castle and give your blocking, unequipped vampire a nasty weapon. Also, you can tap it at any time to give a vampire blood it needs to survive. Works great with Illusions of the kindred or even when you take control of another vampire. It's dirty, its devious, maybe its wrong, but this is the world of darkness, where the rules are different. If a grenade is thrown and dodged, it still goes off. End.
