So my Nakhthorheb is in combat with the imbued, Travis. Travis
conceals out a Flash Grenade and strike S:CE with it. Nakhthorheb
plays the Jones at superior to cancel the strike. Does the Flash
Grenade burn with no effect, or does it stay? If it stays, then can
Travis just choose to strike with the same Flash Grenade again?

It stays, and it can be chosen again.

It would, except Jones is played as the strike card is played.
So it can be used on in-play strikes, so scratch my answer above -- the set-up
is not legal: can't use The Jones against a Flash Grenade (nor a .44).

Sure, cancels as it is played (card text). Doesn´t matter when the
strike card is played. Simillar, the Jones would not work against
Shroud of abscense (superior), which is not a strike card, just a way
to get a strike (just like flash grenade).
Jones, The
Type: Combat
Requires: Serpentis
Only usable in combat with an ally or younger vampire.
[ser] Strike: dodge, with an optional press, only usable to end
combat.
[SER] Cancel the opposing minion's strike card as it is played. (No
cost is paid, and the minion chooses another strike). A vampire may
play only one The Jones at superior each round.

Correct. Google: "jones strike maneuver author:LSJ" or "jones gate author:LSJ"

Correct.

Just play "The Jones" at inferior. The Flash Grenade has no effect
and is burned ;-)
Silly Norm trying to make things more complex than they need to be!

well, except for the bit where combat ends....which I think sort of
works against the desire to beat the snot out of Travis.

He thinks outside the box. Thinking is good! Even if you get it wrong
sometimes, at least you learn!
