If an infernal vampire has a homunculus can you tap the vampire in your untap phase to avoid paying a pool and then untap him with the homunculus? i assume yes. Chris.

Of course you could. Inferrnal if you read it occurs during your untap phase which is the same phase as infernal occurs. You may order your untap phase as you wish so you could pay the blood rather than the pool. Comments Welcome, Norman S. Brown, Jr. XZealot Archon of the Swamp

Homunculus Retainer with 1 life. [pro] During any Methuselah's untap phase, the vampire with this retainer can burn 1 blood to untap. [PRO] As above, but Homunculus has 2 life. It says any so that includes yours and you can order effects in any way you like ( with the exception of the "default" untap which has to be at the start of your untap phase ). So in actual fact what happens is that your infernal minion untaps, you then decide wether to pay the 1 pool cost, which in this case we're assuming you aren't, the infernal minion taps and then you pay one blood and untap him ( again ). A nice way of getting around paying the 1 pool but not so good if you've got, say, Charnas the Pimp because you've untapped twice and therefore take 2 damage.

So in actual fact what happens is that your > infernal minion untaps, I think you are wrong here, the rule for Infernal minions is that you must pay one pool TO untap them, not to avoid taping them ! So your vampire only untapped once (thanks to the homonculus) > in this case we're assuming you aren't, the infernal minion taps and then > you pay one blood and untap him ( again ). Not 'again' as I pointed above > A nice way of getting around paying the 1 pool but not so good if you've > got, say, Charnas the Pimp because you've untapped twice and therefore take > 2 damage. Nope, same reason
