Yeap... thanks to some dude who asked a question about putting temptation on your own minion I've complided a deck that I think will perform... interestingly... I've always noted that my cheesey stealth bleeding decks run out of blood quick if I Legal Manipulate too much... Well the solution to that is having a Temptation on him. When he gets to zero blood you burn zero counters on the Temptation to untap him. He hunts. Yeah! Instead of being tapped with no blood I'm now tapped with some blood! Add Hesha to make this even more interesting... Next turn he'll untap normally and Temp will have one counter. Hesha has two blood (he was empty and hunted last turn). You can suck one blood wiht a BD on him. He can use Enchant Kindred at Superior (with help of skill card), call a vote, equip with leather jacket, whatever. Untap him with Temp. Have him Legal Manipulate, or Mind Numb, or put another Temptation in play (on him on someone else). Untap him with Temp. He hunts. For even more fun, add Heidelberg Castle. Hesha's tapped with 2 blood. Tap the Castle to transfer all blood on him to another minion you control (maybe a nearly empty Neferita with a Temptation on her) , maybe even transferring some retainers he has on him too (like those Marijuava Ghouls you've been using for all of these Presence actions). Untap Hesha with Temp. He's untapped, with no blood (all well, all he can play ecstacy or something or block and S:CE). Repeat process with new minion that has lots of ghouls. Add in Form of Serpents to get some stealth and helping the cycle of untapping with its one blood cost, maybe even Elder Impersonation. All in all: it should be great fun. Vanpires with their own abilities are good for this deck, as you want to have lots of actions. This deck is not yet play tested (I only own 3 Temptations, but I'm going to try it with only 3 to see how it works). Deck: Tempting myself. Crypt: 12 1 Nefertiti (her bloof burning ability for corruption counters is good. She'd be 2 if I had another) 1 Saqqaf, Kepper of Grand Temple of Set 3 Hesha Ruhadze 2 Aisha (her blood burning ability for intercept can help out) 1 Sir Marriot D'Urban 1 Hadrian Garrick 1 Nepata 1 Khali Anvari 1 Lalitha Library: 90 Masters: 16 (A little high I'm guessing) 3 Presence 1 Dreams of the Sphinx 1 HeidleBerg Castle (will be two shortly) 3 Minion Taps 7 Blood Dolls 1 Opium Den Rest of them: 4 Form of Serpent 1 Elder Impersonation 1 Spying Mission 1 Cloak the Gathering 3 Lost in the Crowds 3 Faceless Nights 2 Swallowed by the Nights 5 Ecstacy 4 Forced Awakening (helps burn blood) 3 Wakes 2 Leather Jackets 1 IR Goggles (I need equipment for other actions, and goggles help me live in the later game) 1 Delaying Tactics (why not) 3 Marijava Ghouls 1 Preistess of Sekmet 3 Mind Numbs 1 Aire of Elation 1 Media Influence 1 Propaganda 7 Legal Manipulations 8 Enchant Kindreds 8 Temptations 10 Majesty Well... what do you think? Crypt comments? Library comments? Praises that I'm brilliant?!? :) ~SV -- Posted from dhcp065-024-010-098.columbus.rr.com [65.24.10.98] via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG

However, there is nothing to prevent you from placing multiple Temptations on a single vamp, to allow even more actions (using each one once in turn). Halcyan 2

Actualy, I'm still not done yet... POO, crap carp crap... grrrr.... Ok. It does say during my minion phase, but right after that it says IF the card has counters equal to or greater than the maount of blood I may burn it... So its a "During <x> IF <y> do <z>" which to me if different than "During <X> do <Y>". With card text, you can only do what it allows, or what the rules allow (if they specify other things). However, the During X, Do Y template has been fixed for a significant period of time and covers a large number of cards. -- James Coupe "I think Christmas has lost it's meaning... (which is just rearranging the phrasing of "During <x> IF <y> do <z>."). Does that mean you get to fill up the Powerbase to 4 counters if it has 0 right now? Also, cards that are "IF <x>, during <y>, do <z>" are also only usable once a turn. (Regenerating allies don't fill up to their starting life each turn, they just gain one each turn till they reach it). Halcyan 2

The fact that this doen't allow you infite amount of actions (0 blood? 0 counters? burn 0 counters, gain an action. repeat until.) doesn't result in it being "not working" - gaining extra actions is always nice, especially for a clan with presence for vote & bleed and obfuscate for being able to even get those extra actions through. //T

Yup, I believe so. Consider, that *unless* you are putting the Temptation on one of your own vampires, if you burn one with 0 on it, you are going to be controlling a vampire that is required to hunt (if it isn't in torpor). This isn't always bad, like if it has for, and you have a Force of Will in hand, but most of the time, it's not that useful. I suspect that it wasn't envisioned when the card was created that one would put it on one's own vampire. (Heck, it may even be a (D) action card created when one couldn't direct actions at one's own cards, but I can't be bothered to check at the moment.) > Just seems like if your required to burn counters and have none you > fail. > Of course were not talking real life here, but game mechanaics and thats > a far cry from reality. Hi Vermillian, I like some of your ideas - particularly the abundance of nasty actions, 36 actions in all, most of them bleed or temptation, and lots of untap from Majesty and Temptation, to you can keep churning through those actions. It looks like something between stealth and bleed (15 stealth cards, an opium den, 18 cards that have a + bleed effect, and 4 bleedy retainers) and tap and bleed (all that bleed plus mind numbs and 10 Majesty) While being able to take that many actions is strong, I think things can be improved. > Yeap... thanks to some dude who asked a question about putting temptation on > your own minion I've complided a deck that I think will perform... > interestingly... While that's cool and all, it does make your guys a target. People like to decapitate the snakes. You have to consider the other decks on the table before you make your vampires a target like this. In a huge combat game, tempt your predator - then when your vampires get axed, you have theirs to bleed with. > I've always noted that my cheesey stealth bleeding decks run out of blood quick > if I Legal Manipulate too much... If you are talking about untapping Hesha twice with one Temptation card, then I am afraid you cannot. Consider Francois Villon - he can't play Temptation, but he is a perfect target for them AND his ability helps you steal other people's vampires more quickly, and also (with blood dolls) helps your pool bloating. > This deck is not yet play tested (I only own 3 Temptations, but I'm going to > try it with only 3 to see how it works). 3 Temptations is still good. Try adding a Form of Corruption (or two), and also reducing the deck size, so that you draw one of the three sooner. You do need to be careful when you play a Form: if your prey is likely to wall up, or oust backwards as a result, just discard them. But they are lovely if your prey is a bleed deck. > Deck: Tempting myself. > Crypt: 12 > 1 Nefertiti (her bloof burning ability for corruption counters is good. Four vampires have none, six have only inferior. Your best actions (Legal Manipulations, Temptation) are at zero stealth. You can use bleed / Majesty to tap out your prey, before playing your Temptations, but if you want to put them on yourself, your predator can attempt to block. That could be bad. > > Library: 90 > Masters: 16 (A little high I'm guessing) > 3 Presence Maybe these should be obfuscate? > 1 Dreams of the Sphinx Another? Or a barrens? There are about 30 cards that cost a blood each, 40 if you want superior Majesty to increase your number of actions, and the 3 Ghouls that are doubly expensive! > > Well... what do you think? Crypt comments? Library comments? Praises that I'm > brilliant?!? :) > > ~SV It's certainly aggressive, but has it's flaws. If you go to zero blood, and your hunts get blocked, then all your untaps are useless. Once your vampires are low on blood, they will certainly stay low, with so many expensive cards, and no blood gain. I really think you need some OBF, so that if you face intercept, you can discard, take fewer actions, and get them through. I have a 3-temptation deck, at http://www20.brinkster.com/hollowboy/vampire/theft.htm ...it's wildly different to yours, and has a lot of whimsical crap in it (Ambrosius chainsaw massacre!), but it may give you some ideas. The number of times that I've Tempted a predator or prey's minion and they've practically removed it from the game for me is amazing. They either allow it to get burned or torpored or spend the rest of the game trying to fill it up. A lot of the time your prey will focus on you instead of his prey and your predator will go all out forward. In true Settite style though, sweet talking helps a lot. > Yes indeed! Francois' ability is fantastic in a Settite deck, esp when playing with Form of Corruption. Get Francois out, MT for 8, steal, steal, steal, steal, MT for 8. He even has obf and PRE.

Another little nitpick about Temptation: no matter how much blood the guy has on him, you always burn *ALL* the blood of the Temptation to set it off. It's not like you can save up 30 counters and burn them five at time to Tempt a vampire with 5 blood on him several turns in a row. Got to start over with zero counters each time. I know that this doesn't make a difference to any of the legal examples given in the thread so far. If you've waited a turn since using the Temptation last (which, as Halcyan suggests, is the only legal way to use it), then you have one counter on it and this will allow you Tempt a vampire with zero or one blood on it. Just a word to the wise that this talk of "burning 0 counters" or "burning 1 counter" is beside the point. Fred
