Tetragrammaton

Hello, some clarifications needed with new and old cards: #1 - Nephandus vs Catatonic Fear Does Nephandus damage reduction works against after-combat catatonic fear damage ? #2 -Steely Tenacity vs Direct intervention If Steely Tenacity is get D'Ied (or similar effect, say Louhi's special), is the ST "replace"effect (from the ash heap) still possible , or DI cancels the "When you would replace this card, you may take this card from your ash heap instead." as well ? #3 - Piper and ally performing action in the same turn If an anarch recruits via Piper, can that ally act in the same turn ? thanks in advance Emiliano, NC Italy

The card is completely cancelled and none of its card text can be used. >#3 - Piper and ally performing action in the same turn >If an anarch recruits via Piper, can that ally act >in the same turn ? No. Any "recruit" effect follows the standard rules, see Section 6.1.5. http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/rulebook/ The ally is placed in your uncontrolled region, even though it is controlled, to indicate that it cannot act this turn (and the cost, if any, is paid). http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=cardlist Piper [TR:R] Cardtype: Master Master. Requires a ready anarch. A ready untapped anarch you control employs a retainer or recruits an ally from your hand (requirements and cost apply as normal). This is not an action and cannot be blocked. Tap that anarch. Artist: Andrew Trabbold

Pertinent card text: "Each strike". "During combat" modifies strike, not damage, and the strike was indeed made in combat (as all strikes are). >> #2 -Steely Tenacity vs Direct intervention >> If Steely Tenacity is get D'Ied (or similar effect, say Louhi's special), >> is the ST "replace"effect (from the ash heap) still possible , or DI cancels >> the "When you would replace this card, you may take this card from your ash >> heap instead." as well ? > > The card is completely cancelled and none of its card text can be > used. Correct. Both the delayed replacement and the redirection of the replacement supply source are canceled. >> #3 - Piper and ally performing action in the same turn >> If an anarch recruits via Piper, can that ally act >> in the same turn ? > > No. > > Any "recruit" effect follows the standard rules, see Section 6.1.5. Correct.

[ quoted text not captured ] Thanks for the answers. About the last one (#3) on piper, by section 6.1.5 however, text indicates that "If the *action* is successful, the ally is placed in your uncontrolled region, even though it is controlled, to indicate that it cannot act this turn" that seems to link the *action* thing (and not the "recruit") to the "put in your uncontrolled region" thing But piper specifies that isn't an *action* - maybe card text needs to be clearer Emiliano

[ quoted text not captured ] That part of the rule is the only part that mentions placing the ally anywhere at all. If "recruit" isn't linked to "put in your uncontrolled" then Piper will recruit your ally but you won't actually get to put it in play.
