I would like to pose a question. The group that I play with keeps coming up with this problem. In combat, I strike a vampire for aggravated damage. That vampire strikes me with steal blood, enough to offset the damage I dealt. Does the vampire I stuck go to torpor or not? why? Thanks, Nomad

[ quoted text not captured ] He goes to torpor, since he has taken aggravated damage that he has not prevented. The stolen blood does not 'offset' damage taken. The stolen blood merely adds to the thief's blood supply (up to his capacity). The stolen blood can then be used to heal normal damage or to prevent destruction from aggravated damage. But blood cannot be used to heal aggravated damage (it can only be used to save the vampire from the ash heap). -- L. The vampire does go to torpor, because he it is taking aggrivated damage. Don't think of it as 'ofsetting the damge', but rather think of the blood stolen as now a part of that vampire; it's blood they now must burn to soak damage. The only way to prevent this kind of damage is with Fortitude type cards. Hope this helps. -- rob. He's still sent to torpor. He gets the blood back, but he still can't heal the damage, even though he has the blood for it. --- Liam Burke "Only a Malkavian would attack Cthulhu with laughing gas..." -overheard

[ quoted text not captured ] Technically, the blood does heal the damage. If the vampire had not had enough blood to heal the damage then the vampire would have been burnt. It is just that aggravated damage sends a vampire to topor even if it is healed. You need to prevent aggravated damage to avoid topor (or use some other esoteric means like Rotsreich).

Really technically, the blood is burned to prevent destruction, not to heal. By definition, aggravated damage is damage that vampires cannot heal. It will also destroy (burn) the vampire unless the vampire burns enough blood to prevent destruction. [ quoted text not captured ]

>Technically, the blood does heal the damage. No, I meant that the ingame explanation is that aggravated damage cannot be healed as normal: a vacation in torpor is necessary. [ quoted text not captured ]
