Hi! I have a few Q's. 1) If I use Escaped Mental Patient's special aggravated strike, and play Rötshreck on the opposing vampire, does the Patient still burn? 2) A vampire tries to bleed with (say) Legal Manipulations, but the card gets DI'd. Has the vampire used a bleed action for purposes of NRA? 3) Has anyone here ever used kindred Society Games too good effect? Just asking... ----------------------------------------------------------- Johan Lundstrom <jo...@algonet.se> "Knowledge is power. Power corrupts."

The Patient can strike for strength +1 aggravated damage. Burn him or her at the end of combat if he does so. He burns if he strikes for agg. It doesn't matter whether or not the strike resolves. >2) A vampire tries to bleed with (say) Legal Manipulations, but the >card gets DI'd. Has the vampire used a bleed action for purposes of >NRA? > Since the NRA rule is applied to the acting minion when the action resolves (is blocked or is successful), the minion whose action card is canceled by Direct Intervention is free to attempt the same type of action again, even with (another copy of) the same card. No. He only burns if he strikes with his special strike, and Rötshreck ends combat before he strikes. > 2) A vampire tries to bleed with (say) Legal Manipulations, but the > card gets DI'd. I misread the initial question, sorry. Followup: If I play an action modifier (or reaction) which gets DI'ed, am I allowed to play another copy of that same card? The rulebook says "A minion cannot play the same action modifier more than once during a single action." Since you _played_ the action modifier (and then it was cancelled) it seems like you wouldn't be able to play another. (See? Sometimes I actually read the rulebook before asking questions.) Since you _played_ the action > modifier (and then it was cancelled) it seems like you wouldn't be able > to play another. you can't play another because it was just played before being "burned with no effect". Thus, a minion bleeding you and trying to play "foreshadowing destruction" can't play another action modifier to enhance the bleed. A minion trying to "rampage" a location using "forgotten labyrinth" may use another stealth card, but not a second labyrinth to do so. reyda [ quoted text not captured ]

A >minion trying to "rampage" a location using "forgotten labyrinth" may use >another stealth card, but not a second labyrinth to do so. > Out-of-Turn. Burn a minion card as it is played. Any blood or pool cost burned for that card is retrieved from the blood bank by the vampire or Methusaleh who played it. If the burned card was an action card, the acting minion remains untapped. If the card was a strike card, the minion chooses another strike. DI doesn't actually say anything about "no effect", only that the card is burned, which is simply defined as "discard. ...goes to owner's ash heap". A newbie might imagine that DI was only useful against equip/ally/retainer actions or strikes. Clearly there is an implied cancel effect. The question is how far that extends. I would have thought it reasonable that the "no additional bleed modifier" clause of Foreshadowing Destruction/Conditioning/etc would be cancelled as well as the actual bleed bonus. The wording of the NRA ruling makes this tricky though as it that ruling depends on not reaching action resolution rather than what happens as the card is actually burned by DI. Looking forward to hearing the answer (and I wouldn't mind in the slightest if it goes hard on bleed modifiers - not that that's a relevant consideration). [ quoted text not captured ]

No. The DI cancels all the effects of Conditioning - including both the enhancement of the bleed and the effect that prevents other bleed enhancers from being played. They're a package deal... Fred

Johan Lundstrom wrote: > Would a DI'd Conditioning stop other bleed modifiers from being > played, in the same way? No. There's nothing (except card text on the canceled card) that prevents a bleed modifier from being played - and the canceled card's text doesn't apply, by definition. [ quoted text not captured ]
