What happened to the Tremere antitribu in Sabbat Wars? Why were they not included in the card set? Michael

Can I make a suggestion? Granted, I may be on crack with this one in regards to how feasible this would be, but how about doing a limited run of Tremere Antitribu starter decks to coincide with the release of Bloodlines (or even better, before Bloodlines)? I realize there will be no pre-cons, but perhaps you could save some money on the expenses of this by adding a limited printing of these cards to the existing Bloodlines order and releasing them at the same time. Its a guaranteed sale in my mind...and since the clan was boosted in Final Nights, it seems like White Wolf wants to keep this clan alive. Hell, I'd most likely buy 2 or 3 starters and know QUITE a few people who would do the same just to get Ian Forestal! Just my 2 cents... Just my 2 cents... Here's something I don't understand. Why are people so gung-ho on Ian Forestal? He's an 8-cap with AUS DOM THA and all inferiors... but what decks does he REALLY fit in? I mean, seriously. Look at the other 8-caps running around. I don't believe there's currently a single clan who can't get all three superior in-clans on an 8-cap or less... meaning that unless you're playing Tremere, there's always a better vampire to put in your crypt than Ian. Actually, I think the Lasombra have to go to a 9-cap, but he only shares one discipline with them anyway. Sure, he's neat for 'trick decks'. Sometimes he makes a great SECOND 8- cap vampire; I stuck him in my !Ventrue vote deck because he has AUS/DOM/for, he's a legitimate target for Cardinal Benediction, and he can even play Voter Captivation if I lean towards the Presence angle. But I had Gustav Mallenhous in first, and I had Kij Dansky in second. It seems that the way to get the 'best' use out of Ian is to include him in a deck that makes use of at least TWO of his disciplines... meaning a Tremere, !Tremere, !Ventrue, or Malkavian deck. Possibly even an Assamite deck now, for another AUS/THA/cel or AUS/THA/qui vampire. -- Derek AGITATOR, n. A statesman who shakes the fruit trees of his neighbors -- to dislodge the worms.

Why are people so gung-ho on Ian > Forestal? > Aside from the deck types you mentioned: Tremere with cel, Tremere with for, aus/dom/pre decks (not as bad as it sounds), gun decks (for Magic of the Smith, Diguised Weapon, cel, DOM/AUS for bleed/vote defense), Giovanni with AUS or THA or cel, Lasombra decks with obf, DOM/pro decks, FoS combat decks (so hard to get Serpentis along with any respectable combat discipline), nec/qui/tha (in case you wanna try and make Patrizia useful), Ravnos with aus, the list goes on. Also, with !Tremere, you can play Ian Forrestal, Infernal Pact, Infernal Familiar, plus some skill cards, and you've effectively got 4 clan disciplines to choose from (with the 4th one being whatever you want... and if it's pot, obf, or nec, you win again). Admittedly, he's not great for formula decks, straight clan decks, or most tier 1 tournament decks, but not everyone plays the boring decks all the time. Half the fun of Jyhad is building your own deck, and if you can build something really bizarre that actually somewhat works, you feel so much better. Witness the Recycling Aurura deck, which I am very proud of.

The Lasombra, as you point out, and also the !Ventrue, whose lowest capacity vampire with all three superior in-clans is Quentin at 9. (Lazverinus is the only other qualifier, BTW, at 10.) If you're just looking for AUS DOM FOR, of course, there's also Roxanne and Bindusara at 9 as well. The Toreador of the Camarilla also have to go to 9 to find Andreas, but the !Toreador bring plenty of support with two 7-caps. All of which is kind of OT. Trying to tie it in: Ian does fit nicely into some !Ventrue concepts, as you yourself went on to point out, with his AUS DOM for and possible reinforcement of cel, obt, pot, pre, pro, or tha, depending on which of the off-clan possibilities with significant representation in-clan your are trying to supplement. I generally find him too expensive for the benefit myself, though. Alex

Although Ian is cool, I definitely agree with this sentiment. I play a lot of Tremere and/or !Tremere decks and I usually find him too expensive to put in. Unless I'm going for tha/for or tha/cel, I'm almost always better off with Kij Dansky (8-cap Priscus). *However* Ian does go well in a !Tremere Obtenebration deck with Kij and Ayelea (providing the stealth they so desperately need...).
