Salve ! Yesterday evening someone in our group played a Wake with Evenings Freshness on a tapped vampire to block a bleed and then a Cats Guidance to untap the vampire. We thought it was not "in the spirit" of the Wakey to allow both a block AND playing an reaction card, but after reading the wordings on both cards the actions seemed correct. Were they correct? Thanks & Ciao, Gerwin (a0...@zfn.uni-bremen.de)

Yes they were correct. The Wake allows you to block and play reaction cards for that vamp. Cat's guidance being a reaction card, can be played and then used to untap the vamp IF the block was successful. -- =========================================================== == "A good plan executed violently right now is far == === better than a perfect plan executed next week." === === -- General George Patton === ===========================================================

If the block is successful, treat just like any other blocking vamp. After combat that vamp can play Cat's Guidance to untap just like any other. If you do not successfully block, the aWakened vamp can play a card like Deflection or Telepathic counter as well. The only circumstance that I know of where an aWakened vamp is treated differently from a vamp that taps to attempt to block is a Change of Target or similar card which untaps both vampires, or an Obedience which untaps both vamps. With these cards the blocking vamp returns to it's previous before blocking status. So Change of Target works great in the end game to burn Wakes. Hope this helps stephen

As far as I know, the rules state that only one reaction card can be played per player per action. No. The rules state that the same reaction card TYPE cannot be used twice by a minion during the same reaction. Thus, Wake followed by Cat's Guidance is perfectly within the rules. Note however that you can't use two Cat's Guidance, one for untapping and one for intercept, in the same reaction. Gary

The rules state: [7.2.2] No more than one of a particular reaction card per minion per action. and [13.2] and [14] Only one of a particular reaction card per "you" (Methusleah) per action. The design team has issued errata saying that 7.2.2 is correct, and the other two are incorrect: > From: aa...@cats.ucsc.edu (Thomas R Wylie) > Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad > Subject: Revised Jyhad FAQ: 4/18/95 version > Date: 18 Apr 1995 23:01:44 GMT > > Q: In Section 7.2.2 Minion Cards, it says the same action > modifier or reaction card cannot be used twice in the same > action by the same MINION, but in Sections 13.2 and 14 it > says the same card cannot be used twice in the same action > by the same PLAYER.
