Kerrie
Equipment
Cost: 1 pool
Melee weapon. Requires a Laibon.
Strength +1 damage each strike.
Alternatively, inflict strength damage as a strike and,
after strike resolution, turn this weapon face down (out of play)
until the end of the action.

Interesting.
Prevent it from being stolen after you use it (or used after it's
stolen), and keep it inactive through Psyche etc.
If its ranged ability is used, it still counts as a Melee Weapon, so you
can do "Kerrie of the Righteous" at long range, and other similar
tricks, if I'm reading it correctly... LSJ?
Another question:
If the vampire with this weapon uses it, but is then torporized and
diablerized with Amaranth, what happens to the Kerrie? Can it be taken,
or does it simply move to the ash heap (or stay out of game)?

I need to clarify this question a little bit.
Sword of the Righteous is very clear about its effect. Choose a melee
weapon, and that weapon's damage is aggravated, and it never checks if
it's a melee weapon again.
But there are other effects which are less clear:
Elihu/Jaroslav: If there were some theoretical way for one of them to
become Laibon, would Kerrie inflict +2 damage at long range?
Similar question for Blessing of the Name, and other "increase the damage
from melee weapons" effects.
Hell, does this make Twisting the Knife playable at long range?
Undead Strength: You probably can't use Undead Strength with Kerrie at
Long Range, because it is a non-ranged strike by US's card text. But
since this is a new effect, I figured I would ask.

Yes, very interesting card. Strength+1 or R once per action that costs
1 pool... hmmm... it'll be just fine to kept it with the bastard swords
and brass knuckles and other crap cards.

Not crap though, this one... economical replacement for a stack of
sewerlids or other flewn junk in the appropriate deck.
Also strong in LoB draft! ;)

You do not need to make those vamps Laibon. The Kerrie just requires a
Laibon to bring it into play. It may then be used by any vampire.
You can always use Heidelberg Castle, Nod,, or just the good old action
to equip with equipment currently on one of your other minions to move
the Kerrie over to Jaroslav.

Not strength *ranged* damage after a strike?
People, why bother repeating the text of previews in this forum if
you're just going to get it wrong?

Because we want to get it up onto the newsgroup as quickly as possible,
and maybe brain-farted one word away?
I'm sorry that in this case it was a critical word, particularly to my
line of questioning... Oops :)

Sorry if I sounded like I was exploding on you...it just seems like
with each of the last preview we've had posting incomplete information
about it. :)

It is a melee weapon, so counts as one for all effects that look for one.
When it is out of play, it will not be found by effects that look for it.
(So if out of play when its bearer is diablerized, it stays out of
play or goes to the ash heap. A quick check for the obvious parallel
of a contested equipment on a diablerie victim yields: "ash heap" as
the answer to that question:
