This is a cross-post to vtes-l and rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad. My apologies for those who are going to read this twice, but as you know answers are hard to get this day... Q's are: - Protected Resources disallows bleeds of more than 2 to the meth playing it. Does this mean bleeds are reduced or simply not allowed (e.g. no Govern the Unaligned's). If it is reduced, what's the timing with Telepathic Counter (can I have a minion with sup Auspex reducing the 2 point bleeds thus disabling any kind of bleeds made). - Can cards like The Deadliest sin and 2nd tradition domain be played even if the action has no stealth? - Is the timing of the untap phase "actions" at the will of the meth going through the untap phase? (i.e. can I use the Rack before burning it because of my predator's Arika?) Hope you can answer this. Thanks David Pontes 8[

Unfortunately, this is true. I've sent in questions, and gotten the most horrible answers, for both netrunner and Jyhad, most of which implied that the person answering didn't understand the question. Alec Chang

Then who can we get : 'official' errata and card rulings from? They are employed by the WotC, yes. But do they play Jyhad? Are they at all in touch with the rules team? Have they ever read the WotC printed FAQ? Have they ever paid attention to RTRs? Sadly, the answer is usually no. THAT is why you can't trust those responses. The ones that you _can_ trust come from the rules team or someone closely associated with the rules team. Until the time that Tom Wylie left this newsgroup, that's exactly what we had -- someone who (in a timely manner) got us responses which carried the official weight of a rules team ruling. -spongy

Nonetheless... : I have got conflicting answers on things from the Questions at WotC. : One being on the matter of blocking minions... : : If you select a minion to block and the acting minion ads stealth, can : you switch to someone who has intercept? The short answer... yes. If one blocker fails, you can always just switch to a different blocker, understanding that you need to be able to reach the current level of stealth with the new minion via intercept. From the original Jyhad rulebook: "Play continues with players alternately increasing intercept and stealth. A player cannot increase stealth or intercept beyond that needed to counter directly another player's increase of stealth or intercept; although, if a single card grants more than enough stealth or intercept needed to counter, that card may be played. Players can alternately apply stealth and intercept until they have no more modifiers or do not wish to continue adding. At that point, if the intercept of a minion attempting to block is at least as great as the stealth of the acting minion, the acting minion is blocked. If this is not the case, the blocking minion is left untapped, and another minion may attempt to block." The last sentence is the important bit. If the acting minion has more stealth than the current minion can attain in intercept, you have the opportunity to block with a different minion. Note, however, that the intercept that the first minion was able to bring to the table can _not_ be used to augment the intercept of the second minion. (i.e. Ozmo is able to get +2 stealth, while Yuri is only able to scrape up +1 intercept. Yuri fails, and now you can bring in Bianca. However, Biance now needs +2 intercept to block.) -spongy

(If so, all players I know play it the wrong way....?) An official (that is a rulemonger愀) answer would be nice. Thanx, thomas stellmach

You may attempt to block an action with another of your ready (untapped) minions any time the current block attempt fails. You may even return to an old blocker to have him attempt again (if you cycled a card into your hand that the old guy could use, for instance). Note that you cannot "withdraw" a block attempt unless the blocker actually fails (the stealth is increased, the blocker is rendered inelligible, etc.) Check III.C.4 of the Complete Rules Outline: III. HOW TO RESOLVE ACTIONS ---------------------- A. Acting Minion is tapped. (6.3.1) [12.3] B. Who can attempt to Block (18.1) [13.3.1] 1. If (D) then only the target Methuselah's Minions can attempt to block. NOTE: If the target Methuselah is also the Acting Methuselah, then no Minion may attempt to block. [TOM] 2. If Action is nondirected, then rights to block are resolves as follows: a. The Prey Methuselah can attempt to block. b. If Prey does not block, then Predator can attempt to block. 3. Other Methuselah's attempts (if allowed by card text) resolve clockwise from the Prey. [RTR] C. An attempt to block is resolved as follows: (18.2) [13.3] 1. Pick blocking Minion. (18.2.1) 2. Determine if block is successful. [13.3.2] a. Blocking Minion can play a Reaction card to increase Intercept only if the Acting Minion has Stealth greater than the Blocking Minion's Intercept. (:18.2.3) Any cost of the the Reaction is paid. b. Acting Minion can play an Action Modifier card to increase Stealth only if the Blocking Minion has at least as much Intercept as the Acting Minion's Stealth. (:18.2.2) Increased stealth lasts until the action is finished. [13.3.2] c. Repeat a,b above until neither Minion wishes to play a card. 3. If the Intercept of the Blocker is at least as much as the Stealth of the Acting Minion, then the Action is blocked. (18.2.4) [13.3.2] a. Tap Blocking Minion. [13.3.1] b. Burn any Action card that was played for the Action. c. Play any Action modifier or Reaction cards which can be played after an Action is blocked. [RTR] (reversal) d. Resolve Combat. 4. If the Stealth of the Acting Minion is greater than the Intercept of the Blocking Minion then another Minion of that Methuselah can attempt to block. [13.3.2] D. If Action was not blocked then the Action is resolved. (6.3.4) 1. Pay cost associated with Action. 2. Resolve Action (resolve vote if Political Action). -- L. According to the rules you are not limited to selecting one minion to block. (Jyhad 13.3.2 not negated or refered to in V:TES rules) The acting Methuselah's prey gets first opportunity to block. So Ozmo is acting, and the prey chooses Yuri to block, but Ozmo whips out a Cloak the Gathering for +1 stealth. Yuri fails to block and remains untapped. Now the prey chooses Bianca with Mr. Winthrop to block Ozmo. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- pheersum inhabits the mortal shell of eric schultheis. one channels mailto://phee...@sb.net. pheersum manifests at http://www.sb.net/pheersum/Pheerpage.htm . nature says,"go ahead, have as many babies as you want. something will eat them." ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh no, he fails. In that case, Bianca attempts to block. Note that if the 1 stealth came from something like superior faceless night, the first blocker is still tapped from the attempt, and then Bianca gets the chance to attempt. Of course, se'd be tapped too if Ozmo got another stealth from somewhere. Wallpaper Paste for all those useless cards
