Does Muddled Vampire Hunter inflict hand damage or not? So if I equip him with Sengir Dagger, is he going to be a really serious ass-whacker or not?-) -- msaari @jyu.fi

If he strikes with the Sengir Dagger, he will do 4 aggravated damage. Card text (from WotC's spoiler list): Muddled Vampire Hunter 2 pool Malkavian Ally Unique Ally with 1 life. 4 hand damage, 0 bleed. Hunter strikes with First Strike. As a (D) action, Muddled Vampire Hunter may enter combat with any ready vampire. -- LSJ (vte...@wizards.com) V:TES Net.Rep for Wizards of the Coast. Note that Immortal Grapple, going to range, Strike: Combat Ends and Strike: Dodge will all make his a slightly less serious ass-whacker. -- James Coupe (Prince of Mercia, England) Vampire: Elder Kindred Network http://madnessnetwork.hexagon.net http://www.obeah.demon.co.uk

Ohwell, I wouldn't use him anyhow against combat-heavy opponent... just as a nice little boost for my Malks. -- msaari @jyu.fi

A Dodge strike deals no damage, but it protects the dodging minion and his possessions from the effects of the opposing strike. Retainers are not protected, however. A Dodge is effective at any range. [ quoted text not captured ]

I thought the whole "First Strike" thing canceled out the dodge (unless the vamp somehow has a 'Dodge with First Strike' which seems kinda silly.) We always figured if a 'First Strike' sends someone to torpor (ie. Sengier.. Ivory Bow, etc) that the torp'd vamp has no opportunity for a return strike. Similarly, that considering the FS, the dodge would occur when the vamp's strike would normally occur, ie after the FS had been assessed. Was this an errata or were we always wrong? :) [ quoted text not captured ]

[15.3] (note: no limitation of "unless the strike was done with first strike"). To clear up the ambiguity, the Rules Team issued the following Ruling: "Dodge will cancel a first strike." [RTR 22-DEC-1994] V:TES: "Dodge: A "dodge" deals no damage, but it prevents the effect of the opponent's strike that round, even if the opponent's strike was delivered with First Strike."
