With Visit From The Capuchin, you get 4 counters and increase your hand size by four. Now, if you play a WwEF, you burn a counter off VFTC, and your hand size is reduced by one because of that. However, WwEF is a "do not replace" card, and cards that are "not being replaced" count against your hand size. So you have a hand size of 10 (7+3 counters), and 10 cards. But the wwef is counting against that hand size. So you should only have 9 cards. So, you must discard an additional card? thanks, salem.

[ quoted text not captured ] No. Visit From the Capuchin says that no replacement card is drawn. All cards (incl. Wake) played by the controller of Visit from the Capuchin are "Do not draw to replace this card". So the "Do Not Replace Until X" clause has no bearing - it is replaced (overridden) by a "This card is not replaced" clause, per Visit from the Capuchin's text. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. Note: I incorrectly agreed with the opposite assertion earlier [LSJ 29-JUN-2001]. My apologies for the mistake. The above ruling is correct. [ quoted text not captured ]

The above ruling is correct. ok. all i need now is a way to remember to not actually replace any cards while i have VFTC in play. It's a very hard reflex to override. Stupid card.....(got taken straight out of my assamite deck after i replaced about three different cards and had to reshuffle the erronously replaced cards back into my library, in just one combat). salem....(do not replace, stupid *slap*).

[ quoted text not captured ] Parisian players have found a cool way to remember the non replace clause : when we play Capuchin, we place face p on top of the library. Everytime you want to draw intuitively, your eyes will meet the capuchin, so you wont do any mistake. Try it, it works ;) reyda

There's a pretty easy solution to this that I use when I play the card. After you replace VFTC and draw the 4 cards, put the VFTC and its 4 counters on top of your library. Then, when you reach to draw reflexively, the VFTC is there instead. -Matt H.
