There's an old ruling that says: "Must be played during the 'choose blockers' stage. It may not be used after the action Methuselah asks for "all other blocking attempts". It may be used after your normal position on the choose blocker list (i.e., Prey -Predator - Prey w/ Eagle's sight). [TOM 19960106]" There doesn't seem to be any basis in cardtext for the second sentence - that you can, if you have already declined to block, block anyway after playing Eagle's Sight. And it directly contradicts the rulebook's claim that "Once a Methuselah decides not to make any further attempts to block, that decision is final." [6.2.2] Any chance this will be revisited and possibly reversed? Josh doesn't like cards to break the rules without saying so

> There's an old ruling that says: > > "Must be played during the 'choose blockers' stage. It may not be used > after the action Methuselah asks for "all other blocking attempts". That sentence has always bothered me. I thought that EXACTLY when you DO use Eagle's Sight! Is the sentence really meaning: "It may not be used after you have DECLINED to block when the action Methuselah asks for all other blocking attempts?" I hope so. The way it reads now, the acting Methuselah says "Well, I've got a 4th KRC in my hand, what the hell. Igo the Hungry calls a KRC. Any blocks, prey?" Prey: "Nope." "Predator?" Predator: "Did I block the last 4? No." "All other blocking attempts?" Cross table Eagle's Sight Tzimisce combat Monkey: "OOH! OOH! Me! Eagle's Sight with Anton!" "I'm sorry, but right here in the rulings, it says you can't use that after I 'ask for all other blocking attempts'. Vote is called, then? Ok, the terms are..." > It > may be used after your normal position on the choose blocker list (i.e., > Prey -Predator - Prey w/ Eagle's sight). [TOM 19960106]" Well, and if the silly situation above is the truth, it's the ONLY time you can use it! Again, I sure hope it's just written poorly. It seems obvious what it SHOULD do, and how everyone DOES use it. > There doesn't seem to be any basis in cardtext for the second sentence - > that you can, if you have already declined to block, block anyway after > playing Eagle's Sight. Well, I like it because you can, as the prey, decline to block so your predator "has to deal with it," but if your predator lets you down, you can make sure that KRC *doesn't* hit the table. -- Pat Ricochet Soul Jar'rn Fool of Atlanta

Is the sentence really meaning: Correct. That is *when* you use it. You cannot use it later if you you decline the "all other blockers" phase, as per the quote above (i.e., not *after* that). > "It may not be used after you have DECLINED to block when the action > Methuselah asks for all other blocking attempts?" Yes. > "I'm sorry, but right here in the rulings, it says you can't use that after > I 'ask for all other blocking attempts'. Vote is called, then? Ok, the > terms are..." When there's a choice between interpreting a ruling logically and illogically, I suggest favoring the logical interpretation. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. TOM's ruling is probably based on the parallel with Anneke's ability (which is worded a little differently). I'll put it on the RT list for review. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. ERC RT [ quoted text not captured ]
