I know that Potence and Thaum is everything against weenies, and Celerity is nice. Can someone please explain to me how Protean works against weenies? I have the feeling that Potence works /so/ much better against weenies than Protean that Protean shouldn't really work. Potence doesn't cost blood, and put the weenie in torpor with no blood. Protean (Claws) costs blood, and put the weenie in torpor with blood ... -- "Live Life with Heart." Alan Kwan kw...@cs.cornell.edu

[ quoted text not captured ] But potence and protean combined can burn the weenie outright. (Torn SIgnpost/Undead Strength/Fists of Death + Claws = 3+ agg.) (Then he can't transfer equipment from the torpor-ed vamp).

Protean (Claws) costs blood, and put the weenie > in torpor with blood ... Peace Alan, I wouldn't use aggr dam vs most weenie decks (as Gangrel). I should have enough 2 hand damage vamps (two) to simulate Potence. I'd try to press combats and do repeated damage, as opposed to sending weenies to torpor. The exception I would make would be a "heavy" weenie (four starting blood or has a skill card added) or a weenie toting nasty equipment (Laptops). Those I would probably send to torpor. Then I'd send my weakest vamp to encounter them. A real weenie wave is so nasty that most people won't care if you diablerize them (around here at least). Nil carborundum illigitimi, James R. Protean (Claws) costs blood, and puts the weenie >in torpor with blood ... Weenie decks with torpor rescue abilities tend to exhaust any deck's "get into combat" resources. The problem is especially acute for Protean combat, where the combater is losing blood as well. Protean's use lies in combination with + damage cards, which often allow burning. If the weenies can't rescue, they can generally be knocked off without much trouble. Curt Adams (curt...@aol.com)

I like to use Earth Meld so I can block as many of the weenies as I want with one vamp. If I have enough to block most or all of them, then I can send them to torpor with blood on them and then when my turn rolls around I can diablarize and get that blood plus any equipment I didn't destroy. If I don't have enough votes to win bloodhunts, then I don't use claws on them right away. I wait until one gets to zero blood and use a 2 hand damage vamp to block when he hunts. Now I use claws and burn him. It's less costly to send weenies to torpor with potence, but protean makes up for this with its versatility. Gangrel do tend to pay blood for their actions, but that's what Restoration and Aaron's Feeding Razor are for. --------- Paul Schaaf sch...@u.washington.edu
