Mask cannot be played at this time, since it is not a combat card, and TB must be played 'at the last instant' before combat. If one wants to mask, it must be done before TB. If the TBer played to quickly, you may ask him to pick up the TB so that you be allowed to Mask. <Misc. questions deleted as they are impossible with the answer above> -- L. Of course I play more by the spirit then the letter. REF

[ quoted text not captured ] Combat (resulting from a blocked action) occurs after the action, not as a part of it. This is the official way of the world. [ quoted text not captured ]

Therefore mask of 100 faces is not a viable counter to thoughts betrayed. I still believe however, that combat is a continuation of the action. I would still like to hear other viable counters to TB instead of just it's broken. If when all possible counters have been fairly shot down we as a group can not find a reasonable counter to it then maybe it is broken. In hopes of finding a reasonable counter without rules changes - Tim Dolan.

It is a S:CE card. Combat ends before you continue the action. There are other cards like this: "Majesty", "Earth Meld", and, in it's own odd way, "Dawn Operation". > that combat is part of the action and therefore you should be able to > play Mask of 1000 faces in the middle of combat. The action ends and combat begins. With some S:CE cards and others the combat ends and an action begins.
