Please confirm or not whether malks using the madness network to act during other player's turns can use action/mod cards. And that the player whose turn it is actually, can use reaction cards. T

LSJ

[ quoted text not captured ] Confirmed. Whose turn it is is immaterial to the play of minion cards. Action cards and action modifiers can be played by the controller of the acting minion. Reaction cards can be played by everyone else. -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. [ quoted text not captured ] I am not LSJ, but page 14 and 15 of the camarilla edition rule book seem very clear: Action mod modify an action. Reaction is used to react to another minion actions. There is no mention of "other players turn"... I don't have the references, but i remember that LSJ have confirmed that long time ago (at least two years, probably three). So, the answer seems to be : yes, a malk using the madness network can use action and action mod, and reacting minion can use reaction card.(your question is incorrectly exposed : a player never "use" reaction card. His or her minions, do use it, the player only "plays" it...). Kamel SENNI a.k.a. Kindred SPIRIT for the kindred.

I seem to recall your ruling on this before that as it was not your turn, you could not play action/mod cards. T

As far as I can remember, playing action modifiers and reactions have always been based on the controller of the acting minion, never whose turn it actually is. Halcyan 2

Madness Network has worked the way it does currently (as confirmed today) for years. Here's a recent record of the current ruling and its appearance on this newsgroup: LSJ 2000-03-07 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=8a39c6%24r0g%241%40nnrp1.deja.com LSJ 1999-12-15 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=38578D91.C80BFFD8%40wizards.com LSJ 1999-04-30 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=7gc5nk%24hki%241%40nnrp1.dejanews.com LSJ 1999-04-25 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=7g0167%24ra1%241%40nnrp1.dejanews.com LSJ 1998-11-10 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=729f6b%24c9r%241%40nnrp1.dejanews.com LSJ 1998-07-30 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=6ppta0%24qvo%241%40nnrp1.dejanews.com LSJ 1998-07-01 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=6nd92b%24q0h%241%40nnrp1.dejanews.com LSJ 1998-02-25 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=6d16fo%242kr%241%40nnrp1.dejanews.com With the most important one being here: LSJ 1997-06-30 http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=33B811B6.15FB%40regency.wizards.com 9) You may play action modifiers only during your actions, and reactions only during other players' actions. It is not important whose turn it is, just who is acting. Specifically, action modifiers and reactions now interact with Madness Network as most people would expect them to. Point 9 has been incorporated into the rulebook. Carpe noctem. Lasombra http://www.TheLasombra.com

[ quoted text not captured ] A suggestion: the next time you "seem to remember" something that LSJ is reversing, go find the text of the ruling you believe LSJ is reversing and present that for his -- and our -- inspection. That way, you can say "LSJ, you seem to be reversing what you said, back in this post here..." <insert text of LSJ's post> "...and could you clarify what you meant, blah, blah, blah." I hardly think its out of line to ask LSJ if this was a reversal and if so when it was made. T

So if you control a Malk that bleeds during your prey's turn, you could DI a bleed bounce card played by your prey, but he couldn't DI a Govern or Conditioning used to bleed him. :) james o'rance http://www.geocities.com/dragon-dreamer/vampire

Using the search term: madness network action modifiers author:LSJ group:rec.*.jyhad we're pretty likely to get rulings on this. Restricting searches to LSJ's posts only is excellent, as he is usually efficient enough to include real card names and so forth. (Obviously, everyone overlooks this from time to time.) First hit: Subject: Re: Madness Network Question Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad Date: 2000/03/07 Correct. Madness Network allows Malkavians to take actions during other players' minion phases. It doesn't change any of the rules regarding those actions, though. The acting minion can play an action card [1.6.3.1] and action modifiers [1.6.3.2]. Reaction cards can be played by ready untapped minions in response to "an action taken by another Methuselah's minion" [1.6.3.5] Click on Sort by Date, because we want to check that there hasn't been anything recent (is there a useful search term to include that does that automagically? I should play). First hit is this exchange. (Useful for the future, but immaterial to now, of course.) Third hit from before (i.e. fourth hit now) is: From: LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) Subject: Re: LSJ Madness Network Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.jyhad Date: 2000-09-10 05:10:09 PST Correct. Reaction cards can be played only on the actions attempted by other Methuselahs' minions (regardless of whose turn it is), and action cards (incl. political actions) and action modifiers can be played similarly without regard to whose turn it is. Only out-of-turn masters are restricted based on whose turn is being taken. With no reversals in between then and now. Google is your friend. Search for card names and LSJ is likely to turn up a lot of things. Searching for card types similarly. -- James Coupe PGP Key: 0x5D623D5D EBD690ECD7A1FB457CA2 Hi! I'm Nancy Drew! No. Adding "scoring=d" to the URL works (that's what the "Sort by date" link does, actually), but there is no keyword to include in the search terms to specify this. [ quoted text not captured ]
