Has anyone actually seen this card? We've gone through 7 boxes already and have not seen anyone pull this card. Protected Resources was in the first booster pack I purchased. I'm still looking for the AI. ------- In article <drkhoeDI...@netcom.com>, drk...@netcom.com says... [ quoted text not captured ]

Protected Resources is a master card. I play it on the table, next to my locations, but it is not a location, and cannot be removed by any other player! It says: no one can bleed you for more than 2 blood. this card is burned when its owner bleeds someone. Looks like a card for a voting deck. Dick [ quoted text not captured ]

Ijust accidentally picked up a second V:TES booster and won the Protected Racehorses card: Protected Recources: Master, 2 pool. " If this card is in play, anither Methuselah cannot bleed you for more than 2 pool. Burn this card if you successfully bleed another Methuselah." Can't say I'm dissapointed. But then again, I never played the Malkavians anyway. Hey, has everyone noticed that they changed alot of the flavor quotes? They removed the Kate Bush quote from Enhanced Senses. -> Protected Recources: Master, 2 pool. " If this card is in play, -> anither Methuselah cannot bleed you for more than 2 pool. Burn this -> card if you successfully bleed another Methuselah." Cool! Going right into my political deck. -> Hey, has everyone noticed that they changed alot of the flavor -> quotes? They removed the Kate Bush quote from Enhanced Senses. Rrrr. They removed the NiN quote from Majesty! Grrrr...

-> Protected Recources: Master, 2 pool. " If this card is in play, -> anither Methuselah cannot bleed you for more than 2 pool. Burn this -> card if you successfully bleed another Methuselah." Waitaminnut... what happens to vamps with a base bleed of 3? (Before they get burnt by that new political card :-( ) Is the bleed reduced to 2, or are they not allowed to bleed you at all? The first looks like the way it was intended, but card text could be read either way.

Even though I almost never play a bleed deck I can see that this just isn't fair. Tom, (fearing the pain and agony of the Camille/Raven debate), could you explain why such attention was focused on anti-bleed cards? -James

[Blight. Light bulb appears above my head. I obtained enlightenment.] Ah, that's because V:teS needs to extend its market towards the not-so-hard-core-gamers people. However, those people would not be able to understand the depth of the Jyhad game system (that is, if there's any left after all those turmoils such as mis-rules, ect.), and in particular would not be able to build efficient combat decks: "Why ever use a Torn Signpost since the Submachine Gun does so much more?" Bleed decks in their games will roam rampant. A game would become a contest of who can bleed their prey the fastest, and who has the most bleed bounce at the right time. So, WotC /has to/ do something to keep bleed decks apparently in check. Also, since the design team does not know (or rather, does not have a clue) when the 4-card limit rule will be officialized, they'd better start preparing by making more bleed deck hosers than just the 2 Bleed Bounc'es. -- "Live Life with Heart." The last thing we need is for VTES production to stop because some exec on, for example, The Cure's label notices the violations and slaps us with a restraining order. However, those people would not >be able to understand the depth of the Jyhad game system... The anti-bleed cards were not added to hold the hands of new players. While I don't know the exact reasons for their addition, my impressions are that they were added for two reasons. First, bleeding is the most fundamental action of the game, and while there were a lot of cards designed to help bleeding, there were very few designed to stop it. Second, most or all the anti-bleed cards that did exist were more annoying than debilitating (e.g., Telepathic Counter), or required playing a discipline that was also very good at increasing bleed (e.g., Deflection). So the new cards were added as general ways of fighting bleed. >if there's any left after all those turmoils such as mis-rules, ect.), >and in particular would not be able to build efficient combat decks: >"Why ever use a Torn Signpost since the Submachine Gun does so >much more?" So, WotC >/has to/ do something to keep bleed decks apparently in check. You're giving new players amazingly little credit for their capacity to learn. Most new players will jump to inaccurate conclusions at first, your perception of their abilities notwithstanding. Anyone who sticks with the game will keep figuring out how to make better or different decks, so there's no real reason to babysit them. >Also, since the design team does not know (or rather, does not >have a clue) when the 4-card limit >rule will be officialized, they'd better start preparing by making >more bleed deck hosers than just the 2 Bleed Bounc'es. Excuse me? Nobody around here has any kind of intention of imposing a general card limit on VTES. [ quoted text not captured ]

Especially when coming from Magic, many players never get basic strategies like rush combat or tap-and-vote or tap-and-bleed. Perhaps they would eventually, but they quit in frustration first. I have, however, seen groups that have played more than a year that still never got any of those things. I believe a significant part of the problem Jyhad has had is that it requires a play style very different from the only CCG most players have ever played, yet they are provided no guidance as to how this works.
