My reacting minion has an ivory bow (say) and is in combat with the acting minion that S:CE. Do i have the opportunity to play rothstreck in that combat (striking with the ivory) ? What about a S:dodge ? Tk, Klav

[ quoted text not captured ] Rotschreck is played when the attempt to use aggravated damage is announced. If the attempt is in the form of a strike, Rotschreck is played during the strike announcement phase (before any damage prevention can be played). It can be played after the other strike is announced, however. [LSJ 19990217] Since you are entitled to announce a strike yourself after the other player announced a S:CE (Rotschreck lurking in your hand or not), you can choose an aggravated one - Ivory Bow in your example. Then you play Rotschreck, still in the Choose Strike part of the combat (cf. [6.4.3.]). Rotschreck now resolves - before the Resolve Strike part of the combat round kicks in! Since the opposing vampire now goes to torpor, overtaken by irrational fear, said Resolve Strike phase does not come to pass at all - the S:CE effect fizzles, because the minion attempting it is no longer ready (again, check [6.4.3.]). The same applies to a Strike: Dodge - the Resolve Strike phase is not reached when Rotschreck ends the combat. -- Hardy Range hardy...@gmx.de
