from; http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=news&articleid=819 VTES Lords of the Night to Release September 26th White Wolf Announces Vampire: The Eternal Struggle Lords of the Night Launch Event Now in its 13th year of play, White Wolf celebrates the latest expansion of Vampire: The Eternal Struggle (VTES). White Wolf and the Princes of the Elder Kindred Network (VEKN) are promoting a weekend long series of tournaments and special events across the globe. Below is the basic information needed to plan your own tournament: On the weekend of September 29th, VEKN players and Princes will team up with retailers around the world to organize a launch event for White Wolf's award winning CCG, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle. Coinciding with the launch of Lords of the Night, this event will celebrate the latest expansion of one of the longest running CCGs in the market. Retailers: VTES Lords of the Night Launch Kit: Stock #: WWP2766ISBN#: 158846-341-9 Retail Price: $249.99 US Contents: 2 booster displays of VTES Lords of the Night, 2 starter displays of VTES Lords of the Night, and 16 Argent Baton promo. Princes/Organizers: There is enough material to run a sealed starter event for 16 players. Please follow the standard rules for a Sealed Deck Limited Event: http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=veknRules#sec7.3 7.3. Standard Sealed Deck Tournament Rules 7.3.1. Deck Construction Before tournament play begins, each player receives an assortment of sealed product. Each player then creates a tournament deck that meets the Sealed-Deck size requirements found in the game's VEKN Floor Rules. Players are given a set amount of time, determined by the event organizer, in which to construct their decks. The head judge or tournament organizer may require players to record on a decklist every card they intend to play in their decks. Failure to properly record the cards being played will result in the head judge applying the appropriate provisions of the VEKN Penalty Guidelines. AFTER THE EVENT: Let us know how things went. The WW Website will be putting up a news story on the launch events. We want pictures. Tell us how many people showed up. How many players did you meet? We'll draw a name from the post-event reports submitted and send one person a display of Lords of the Night, just to say thanks for keeping us in the loop. PRICES MAY VARY FOR INDIVIDUAL RETAILERS. Princes, organizers, or retailers with concerns may contact Oscar Garza, the Organized Play Coordinator at org...@white-wolf.com Vampire: The Eternal Struggle celebrates its thirteenth anniversary this year. Designed by Richard Garfield, designer of Magic: The Gathering®, VTES allows players to pit clans of vampires against one another in a mix of intrigue and action. So the expansion comes out on the 26th, and the launch events are supposed to begin on the 29th? Will there not be a weekend of prerelease events as with previous expansions? > VTES Lords of the Night Launch Kit: > Stock #: WWP2766ISBN#: 158846-341-9 > Retail Price: $249.99 US > Contents: 2 booster displays of VTES Lords of the Night, 2 starter > displays of VTES Lords of the Night, and 16 Argent Baton promo. Aside from the 16 Argent Batons, which are worthless, is there any particular incentive for retailers to order this kit instead of ordering individual boxes? Will these arrive earlier or something? > Please follow the standard rules for a Sealed Deck Limited >Event:http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=veknRules#sec7.3 Why is this considered preferable to using a sealed started and drafting boosters, which is what most playgroups seem to do with new sets? Is it so the events can be sanctioned? For that matter, why hasn't VEKN sanctioned a sealed deck + drafted boosters format? Would anyone at White Wolf or VEKN object if individual groups decided to draft their boosters rather than simply opening them prior to deck construction?

I'd expect the incentive is all in the retail price... 2 booster displays and 2 starter displays have a combined retail price of $375. i.e. this kit has a 33% discount. I find myself a little curious about the contents of the booster displays though... the description on the WW site says it contains 35 boosters, instead of the usual 36. Given the price of the display is exactly 36x the cost of a single booster, I am assuming the 35 is a typo...

Because of the issues we've had with shipping pre-release materials in the past, I thought it would be fair to everyone to structure events like this so everyone got their stuff on time. > > > VTES Lords of the Night Launch Kit: > > Stock #: WWP2766ISBN#: 158846-341-9 > > Retail Price: $249.99 US > > Contents: 2 booster displays of VTES Lords of the Night, 2 starter > > displays of VTES Lords of the Night, and 16 Argent Baton promo. > > Aside from the 16 Argent Batons, which are worthless, is there any > particular incentive for retailers to order this kit instead of > ordering individual boxes? The price break that RocketEddy cites. > > > Please follow the standard rules for a Sealed Deck Limited >Event:http://www.white-wolf.com/vtes/index.php?line=veknRules#sec7.3 > > Why is this considered preferable to using a sealed started and > drafting boosters, which is what most playgroups seem to do with new > sets? As always, organizers are encouraged to run any format they choose for their pre-release event. Oscar Garza OrgPlay

[ quoted text not captured ] Yes, the 35 is a typo that hasn't been fixed unfortunately. 36 packs per display as usual. Oscar Garza OrgPlay

Thus, it's the 14th year of VTES 1994 is the first year of VTES being played 1995 is the second year 1996 is the third 1997 - 4th 1998 - 5th 1999 - 6th 2000 - 7th 2001 - 8th 2002 - 9th 2003 - 10th 2004 - 11th 2005 - 12th 2006 - 13th and 2007 is the 14th. It's the same as why although 2000+ years have passed, meaning 20 centuries have passed, we are in the 21st century

Since VTES was not introduced on January 1 then each year runs from the date of inception in each year. You know, like birthdays. For this group the date was November 21st 1994. Does anyone know the actual launch date? Comments Welcome, Norman S. Brown, Jr XZealot Archon of the Swamp

J. Hunter Johnson

[ quoted text not captured ] Gen Con '94, August 18-21, 1994, according to Wikipedia, which cites (and links) a NOVA newsletter from that year as a source. Hunter -- http://www.hunterandlori.com
