What's the timing of choosing whether Ghoul Retainer will use a weapon or inflict its default 1 damage? Text: "Each round of combat during strike resolution, the Ghoul Retainer inflicts 1 damage or may use a weapon that is not being used by the employing minion (or another retainer) during that round. This is not a strike, although it does count as "using" the weapon." It sounds like the choice is made during strike resolution. Just at the moment, I'd really like it to be made during strike declaration, but the only argument off the top of my head is that "regular" minions (eg vampires) act as if they had the text "during strike resolution inflicts 1 damage or may use a weapon", and they have to choose what their strike will be during strike declaration. :-) Josh ensaddened

Suppose the minion without Ghoul Retainer wants to strike with Canine Horde at [ANI]. If the choice for the Ghoul to use a weapon is made during strike declaration, it can be "shot out from under it" just like it can be with a vampire using the weapon (unless the vampire/Ghoul were to have First Strike as well). But if the choice is made during strike resolution, the Ghoul will always at least be able to inflict its base 1 damage. I doubt that this changes your answer, though. Nor should it, probably. :-) Josh ghouled vagabond mystic

Right. That was the question - does the ghoul choose his strike resolution effect during the choose strike phase (like his employer does), or does he wait until strike resolution. The answer is that he waits until strike resolution. [ quoted text not captured ]

If you steal a weapon with First Strike, can your ghoul use that weapon?

Not even by the vampire who steals the weapon with first strike? (additional strike, strike with the stolen assault rifle?) Bas

[ quoted text not captured ] Correct. Stolen equipment cannot be used on the round in which it is stolen. [ quoted text not captured ]
