Here's a card suggestion. I like card suggestions. They are useless, and allow us to discuss and insult each other for no real reason. :) So, in a desperate attempt to make Deal with the Devil suck less, here is : Infernal Knowledge, Unique Master, Baali Put Infernal Knowledge in play. You may pay 1 pool to play a card from you ash heap as if it was from your hand. Cards played this way are removed from the game instead of going to you ash heap. Any minion may burn Infernal Knowledge as a (D) action. 3, 2, 1, let's flame ! Francois

Not sure. Every time you use it, you bleed yourself for one. That's enough of a cost for me. As for Infernal requirement, well, why not, but I was thinking Baali is less restricitve, and so the card would fit more easily in trick decks. And since anyone can burn it with a mere action, I really think it is not overpowered. Francois, designer-wanabee

Variations : Action card that cost blood, Pay blood rather pool, "upkeep" cost of 1 pool (more in the spirit of baali...), Only burnable by vamps... It's not a killer card, because it only allow you to play (and burn)some already used cards... Let's test it ! And remember all the messages on "meddling", or SlaughterHouse..."Much ado about nothing", wrote Shakespeare ? En français : Une tempête dans un verre d'eau... Kindred SPIRIT

So it isn't that great. Maybe my wording is incorrect. You should be able to play the permanents, but when they are burnt, they are removed from the game. Or did I miss something ? Francois

[ quoted text not captured ] Probably something more ironclad would be in order: "When a card played in this way is burned, remove it from the game instead" -- LSJ (vte...@white-wolf.com) V:TES Net.Rep for White Wolf, Inc. This is less confusing, obviously. Thanks. By the way, this suggested card is public domain. (I know it won't be printed, I'm saying this for the nice people out there who build unofficial expansions. Use it, if you like it.) Francois

If they don't wan't to make cards that someone suggested, every suggestion restricts WW to one idea less to use... Or has there actually been any cases where cards suggested by newsgroups or fans have been printed? -- Henrik Isaksson

Sorry, I meant, using LSJ's wording : "When a card played in this way is burned, remove it from the game instead" Francois

Whether these are re-makes of the originals by White Wolf or the originals themselves, I cannot answer for sure. Here's the address: http://www.almadrava.net/damnans/ Hesha (follower of set 6 cap) is the only one that comes redily to mind at the moment, but there are others on there...

Combined with DwtD, it could be quite interesting. And, since "each" card played from the heap would cost 1 pool, better build your deck around massive pool generation to really benefit from it. I wonder though if "Baali" is a proper requirement; woulnd't "Requires a ready Infernal vampire" better? Else, as soon as someone Clan Impersonate a Baali, you could play the card. Unless, of course, if Impersonating a Baali makes you Infernal automatically... ? Frederic.

Or has there actually been any cases > where cards suggested by newsgroups or fans have been printed? > FRPG used to have a policy that if a card idea was posted to any public forum, they would never print a card like that. It was considered kind of silly because a) they can't monitor *everywhere*, and b) what happened if someone independently came up with an idea that they'd already made into an as yet unreleased card? WW has no such policy, AFAIK. That doesn't mean that they'll consider for submission ideas that are posted to the newsgroup. They may well have some internal policy not to consider that type of submission. In any case, most design teams prefer to design their own cards and are somewhat closed to suggestions. I'm of the opinion that at least one card idea was ripped off (not that we minded *at all*) from our online playtest set, headed up by Justin Fang and including a number of people who still post on this newsgroup. The cards can be found at www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~justinf/jyhad/ (the project was mostly abandoned after WW took up the V:TES banner and started making cards again). The list is somewhat long and ponderous, and I wouldn't recommend browsing through the whole thing, but in particular, "Raise the Ancients" has exactly the same text as Zillah's Valley. This could, of course, be coincidence, but i don't think it is. (There were a few other cards that were similar to cards in FN, but they could just be coincidence... we were drawing from the same background material, after all.) Chances are that WW is not completely deaf to card suggestions, but I wouldn't hold your breath on seeing any particular idea in print.

Else, as soon as someone Clan >Impersonate a Baali, you could play the card. > >Unless, of course, if Impersonating a Baali makes you Infernal >automatically... ? No it doesn't. Unlike the Blood Curse, Infernal is not inherent to the clan (it's possible to have a future Baali not be Infernal). Similarly, Sterility and Cold Iron Vulnerability are not inherent to a clan and like Infernal, are not passed down to Embraces (though the Sterility thing prevents you from Embracing in the first place). >Hesha (follower of set 6 cap) is the only one that comes redily to mind at >the moment, but there are others on there... > But then again, Hesha is a character from the RPG, whose stats and background (including the part about owning a blood bank) are well-known and even published on the web-site. So given, his character sheet, it's not all too hard to come up with a reasonable (or even accurate) guess at his card representation. In addition, even if White Wolf did copy (without permission) a created Jyhad/VTES vampire that someone else thought of, in many cases the third party creates a representation of a character that is already in White Wolf's World of Darkness. Since White Wolf created and pretty much owns the concept of Marcus Vitel, if some person develops their own Marcus Vitel crypt card and White Wolf copies it, it'll be an uphill battle to combat White Wolf over their very own creation. IT might be interesting or amusing to revisit the little "Camarilla" fiasco-thingy for the LARP... Halcyan 2

>So, while Sterility is not hereditary, if your Sire could not create >vampires, >chances are you can't either. Well, it's more of a paradox thing. If your sire couldn't create vampires, he couldn't have created you in the first place! Halcyan 2
