Hi, could someone please tell me what the effect of aggravated damage is on an ally or retainer. Half of us argue that it should have no effect (other than normal damage), but half of us argue that it would immediatly kill them. If there is an official answer to this, please let me know, thanks. Isn't the subject header for this clever?

The former (no effect other than normal damage). VtES Rulebook: 20.1. Retainers and Combat ... Each point of damage inflicted on the retainer removes one life counter, and when all the life points are gone, the retainer is burned. Aggravated damage (see Advanced Combat, Section 21) is treated the same way as regular damage in this instance. For allies, the rules are not as explicit, but the result is the same. Allies burn one life for each point of damage taken, with no special consideration given to aggravated damage. (Distilled from section 21 of the rulebook). -- L.
