As I understand the rules a retainer that does damage cannot be dodged. As the senior player at our weekly game this week I had the unfortunate task of stating how one guy with Wynn and a rifle who had a ghoul retainer with a flamethower couldn't have the agro dodged. I really think a vampire should be able to _choose_ who he dodges in a fight. Comments? (Naturally I was obligated to point out to the target that he could always attack the retainer with his pistol, instead of wasting it on Wynn and his fortitude.)

Dodges just prevent effects of strikes, and damage from retainers (even damage provided by a weapon via Ghoul Retainer) are just collateral damage. While the damage may be prevented, it cannot be avoided with a dodge. Tom Wylie rec.games.trading-cards.* Network Representative for aa...@cats.ucsc.edu Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

Sorry if this has already gone over, but there's a problem here. A flamethrower, for example, does "2R, aggravated, EACH STRIKE" (emphasis mine). All the other weapons I looked at have the same wording, except for the Rowan Ring, which says "paralyzes as a strike". So if the armed Ghoul isn't striking, then the Ghoul's use of the weapon will have no effect. There is no need to dodge the ghoul anyway.
